dealers

My dealer was very nice but no dealers in South Texas had a single G37S without the premium package. My dealer told me he ordered 3 cars that same day for customers demanding the sport model with no sun roof (like me). None of my friends or co-workers who have a similar interest in performance cars want a sun roof either.

There is no question in my mind a lot of people would buy them if they had the chance but the dealers wont give them the chance unless they special order. For what its worth, Lexus is the same way.

^^ This might apply to you, however the majority of the buyers of this vehicle would want a Premium package. I'm not saying that dealers like me would turn their backs on getting you one, it's just that there isn't enough of a demand to warrant stocking them and sitting in inventory for weeks if not months.

Think of it another way; Canadians love ketchup chips however here in the States, it's thought of as "gross". Are there transplants from Canada living here in the States now that would love to dig their hands into a bag of ketchup chips? Absolutely, however the demand isn't strong enough for stores here to stock them and let them sit on shelves hoping that someone would actually buy them.

I got mine from San Antonio, Texas. Gunn Infiniti they have a simple one price deal. At the time there was only one in Texas with out the premium package but it had a sunroof. They tracked one down in Louisiana and sold it to me cheap.

Dave ISM, am I way off base or is it far more rare for customers to request stripped luxury cars rather than loaded ones? There are a number here who want "the car and only the car" with no frills for a variety of reasons. In almost every case the posters have said that it had to be ordered or located and that there are very few to be found. I would think that the nature of the car we own and love would lend itself toward having most of the units on hand equipped with the most available options for the majority of consumers. Is this accurate?

Well this thread is basically about having a pure sport base model.
The models are:
Pure base g37 with (only auto) no options allowed

Journey g37 (only auto) with available options including sport, premium, nav, tech, etc.

Sport g37 (only manual) with premium, nav, tech, etc.

I started this thread to see what kind of demand there is for a pure base sport g37. Because ideally the g37s is a luxury sports car and I guess if people this car they are more into the luxury of the car rather than the sports part. Don't get me wrong luxury is always great. If i had the extra money I would opt for the extra packages. But yes the demand for certain packages would cause infiniti to only build accordingly to consumer demand. Infiniti does not want extra models sitting on the dealer's floor because they would have to discount them so low causing them to lose money.

Thanks for all the info and I didn't realize there were so many dealers here.

I have a pure base Sport 6-MT. My only option was a Sunroof, cargo net and splash guards I believe.

I love it. I do miss my heated seats from my FX and no Homelink is GARBAGE for a 35k+ car.... but whatever.

To continue this thread I was wondering how easy it is to install a homelink system. do we need to run a complete harness or is there an existing harness we can just plug into.

I was looking at the loaner G35 when I had my 37 in for service. The mirror would use the same mounting point. It's just a matter of wiring. If it isn't pre-wired allready and just not hooked up, it would be pretty easy. I assume it would be basically a power, a ground and a remote just like an amp. I'm just waiting on someone to order the mirror and do it. I think the 350z, G35 and G37 all have the same mirror. Not sure about any other inf/nis models.

Well I have seen people do this before but they had to wire it all the way down to the frame pillar going down to the electrical near the kick panel area.

Mine is sport plus sunroof. When I bought it in Nov. it was one of like only 6 in the country with that config, and it was the only BS. Most others were LP. I know this because I checked the inventory of every Infiniti dealer in the country with a website.

I would be concerned about re-sale value of a barebones sport model and thus personally I'd at least get premium even if I didn't want it...

that said, I'm your typical infiniti buyer and i want the gadgets, so I have premium + nav (for ipod, navigation, back-up camera, bluetooth phone, homelink mirror, heated seats, memory seats, etc) on my Sport/6mt.

Yeah they are convienant, but during the time with the discounts being offered, I would have to pay 38000 for the premium package. instead I got mine for 4000 less.

yeah if I were going to go with a barebones sport coupe with an emphasis on sport primarily, I would perhaps just go with the Z. But then again if you want a backseat...
