I do not mod my vehicles so I'm just going to leave it at that. What I will say is adding something will not void your ENTIRE warranty only parts affected by the mod.
In my G35 I installed two subwoofers which caused by rearview mirror to break off. I got them to replace it once under warranty but the next time it happend they refused to replace it because my subwoofers caused the damage..

Obviously the part you replaced or modded is no longer covered by a warranty unless the aftermarket parts were bought from and installed by a dealer. Example: My dealer sells Stillen exhaust, intake, etc. and if purchased and installed by them it is covered by factory warranty. If you do the same thing on your own, no warranty. Any part that your mod caused to fail directly isn't replaced by warranty. Example: you replace springs and your struts wear out because of the different spring rates, your struts aren't covered because the springs caused the failure. If you put on a body kit and have to drill into panels to install it and later get rust as a result form the holes you drilled, it's not covered. If you put in an aftermarket stereo and an your catalytic converter goes bad, it's still covered because they are not in any way related to each other. If you put in a turbocharger with 12 PSI boost and you blow your engine, it's not covered because you've completely changed the engine and it is a contributing factor. Get it? It's not really difficult.
