Where are they made and assembled?

Hi,

I am a newbie, so still researching. I know Infiniti(G37) is Japanese, but are they producing the engines and tranny in Japan, or are they making them here in the US?

Also, where are the G37s assembled in?

thanks!

It is made in Japan, both the engine and the car (assembled). Japanese built and made.

yup, from the VIN the 11th character represents the plant and "M" is Tochigi, a little north of Tokyo.

The Tochigi factory is Nissan's best factory- they make the 350Z, G37, EX35, M35/M45, and GT-R there. It has a test track oval that encircles the entire factory complex. I watched a TV show a while back that toured the Corvette factory in Kentucky- the build quality and personnel there simply does not compare to what Nissan does at Tochigi. Just as an example, when the Corvette is finished, they don't even test it out on a test track! Nissan does that for G's as you know.

Excellent article on the GT-R and Tochigi factory here:

I took the tour of the Corvette assembly plant in Bowling Green last August. They do test the vehicles. There are machine tests indoors and then a outdoor track test that simulates different types of road conditions and types of pavement. This tests the suspension, body for noise and rattles. It's not an oval, but that does not prove much considering all the posts here about noises in the exhaust, seat belts that rattle etc. that the G has experienced.
