So you have to stop to get more functionality?
The thing is, after having experienced the Harman Kardon GPS 310, I find having to spend that extra for integration not quite worth it. And you really need some basic functionality while driving which I find the HK unit is better than G37 unit.
While I "felt" I might regret it when I was in the car, I don't think it would be a dealbreaker for me to not have it.
Not only that, I'm getting my ordered car close to invoice, whereas this dealership I went to, didn't offer me it at this price. When ordering, I really didn't feel like spending an extra $2k on nav when I knew I could have it for less. I have it now for $299.00.

Hey go4gr8,
Good for you. My buddy just bought a 335 without navigation and is using a nice Garman, which to be honest, has more functionality than the G37's navigation (at less than 1/4 the price). It tells you gas station prices, movie times, etc., in addition to traffic and nav. It really is a pain that there are so many features that we can't use on the G37 nav while moving (like typing in a destination . . . instead, I have to say it, which takes 10 times as long). Also, the hard drive is nothing special . . . I've never used it, nor do I plan on using it.
That being said, you might miss the back-up camera . . . I love it. But congrats on the car and have fun!

I'm happy with my Nav/iPhone combo, works well for me.

Kind of..dumb? Sounds like Infiniti is more worried about legality than operational convenience. If you do the software correctly, adding a new destination should be operational while driving. What if the passenger could operate the unit? Did they ever think about that?

I didn't get nav and I'm still able to get everywhere I need to go.
IMHO, It's a cool toy, but not for $2000. My car is leased, so I'm not worried about resale. The hard drive is cool, but there is an Ipod connection. I travel a lot for work, so if I ever get the nav bug, I'd like a portable one anyway.
Just some thoughts....

I don't think Infiniti is worried too much legal issues, they have their disclaimer, I beleive its more of US law rather than Infiniti worrying about our safety.. Does that sounds right..?

When someone actually try to sue them, then the idiot juror is gonna be sympathy about the injury and reward them with money. You know that's going to happen because big corporation has so much money, it's not gonna hurt them to give out couple million here and there.

It's very easy to enter a new desintation with the voice, in fact, its much easier than entering the data manually, its' kind of a good thing they disabled the keypad while in D otherwise I'd never have used the voice.

As someone that has the nav package, and also has used an aftermarket unit (Garmin Nuvi), I can say you are better off with the aftermarket unit. Infiniti's is by far the best integrated system that I've used, but it's no where near as accurate (map wise) as the Garmins. If the music box, rear camera, and CF slot don't hold any appeal, then it's really not worth the money.

Okay! So the onion is getting peeled with each response. Manual data entry is disabled, but voice entry is not disabled while moving. Quite clever!
