This is what happens when someone who runs a stop sign hits you...
The worst part (besides that it had 2000 miles on it) is the insurance compnay wants to fix it and not total it. Anyone know the rules for challenging that decision or what percentage of the value it needs to be for them to total it?

Damn.
Depending on your insurance company, they won't total out a vehicle unless the cost to repair is greater than 75-80% of the cars value. That should cost a good $15k to fix so unfortunately your S.O.L. Don't worry the adjuster will spend a great deal of time punching in the numbers before he ok's that car being fixed. Give it a few days you might get a total.

well for 1 if the damage is done is worth more than the car it will be totalled. Or 2 if the value of the car after its been hit + the amount it cost to fix it is worth more than the cars value its totaled. You could hire your own appraiser to figure these numbers out to challenge them. Im not sure i think it varies in each state maybe someone will chime in that knows more than i do.

Adjuster just called. The damage is currently at $25,000 and they "might" total it depending on what the salvage value is, and what they think it would be worth undamaged...
