You know it's cold when...

It was -44 C when the picture was taken - it appears to stop reading somewhere around -35 C.

That's effing cold, all right.

I've only ever seen cold like that around here a few times in my life.
-20F is common, but not -47F. Throw a little wind in there...

It's a balmy -1F right now, here.

It will show "ICY" whenever the temps reach -3C (37F) or below.

OP, the temperature gauge will only read to -30C. Thankfully, I have never seen it get that cold here.

Cold does not equate to snow.

I meant to say winter tires, as from what I recall, Summer tires don't work very well in temperatures under 40F.

Mine did the same thing. It cuts out at -30 degrees C

I was warming the car up and watched it switch from -29 to --- just like in the pic.
