My mpg has been stuck on 18.3 for a long time now. After moving further away from work, my commute has been mainly highway, but it still reads 18.3. I don't think I need to reset my ECU again just for that but is that normal? What do you guys think?

You need to reset that each time you fill up, it has nothing to do with the ECU. Reset the dash display and the LCD display too if you wish. If you've been driving without resetting the AVG MPG is going to stay closer to that number no matter what.

The MPG yo are getting or that it doesn't change? Anything form 13 to 22 is normal depending on how you drive. You can reset it and check again if you don't think it's accurate. I just found recently in the fuel economy menu that you can save it for a given period and start over with the previous fuel economy saved.

my actual mpg is about 21-22mpg according to the gas and miles calculations. I do a 100mi round trip a day. 80mi is freeway. I had my car mid December and it already has over 5000 miles on it. I think I need to buy a bulk order of oil and oil filters.

it'l be like my friends IS300, has 80000 miles on it with no wear on the brake pads.

Your friend is full of it if his Lexus doesn't have any wear on the brake pads after 80,000 miles. On an IS he should have had his brakes changed at least twice if not three times.

I am getting 15.2 to 15.5 mpg on a 7mile one way commute, lunch driving around town, etc. etc.

I was hoping for a little better just driving around, but I am not bitching

Adjust your driving style and you'll get 18+ easily. I regularly get 19 to 21 when I do some highway driving. All highway trips get 23 to 24.

My trip to work is about 12 miles so I do about 24 or so a day. Mostly freeway 70-80mph. I do about 15-16mpg. only have about 1300 miles on the car though. I didn't expect to get good gas mileage, I knew that going in. I believe the estimates they give are on the high side.

I recall from another thread that we have a lot of cruise control haters here. Cruise is your friend when it comes to improving your mileage on the highway. That and taking it easier on the throttle. To all of the 14-15-16 MPG crew: reset your fuel economy meter and drive conscientiously and I can almost guarantee you'll see marked improvement. I don't mean drive slow, I mean accelerate and brake smoothly and steadily, avoid hard braking, and cruise on the open road at a constant speed of 60 to 70 MPH.

That should give you a more accurate reading.. If you reset yout trip meter last time you filled up divide the miles you drove into the amount (gal) of gas you put in. That should give you a Est MPG too for reference purposes.
