yea, I do that too but I'm never too sure about the remaining miles.

Just to make sure, I can just rest the mpg reading from the dash right?

Yeh you just reset the one on the tac display. I don't bother with the Nav one its kind of a pain to do and I never pay attention to that thing.

Alright, I might of exagerated a bit on the miles. But yeah he works in San Diego drives back to the LA area on the weekend. So when he hit, what? 40k, 60k mile mark and checked on his pads, he didn't need to change it because it was all free way miles.

Well, theoretically, if his commute was uphill both ways and he tried not to use his brakes as much as possible, then I'm sure 80K would be a breeze.

Right now, I'm averaging about 20.5 mpg with roughly 35%/65% city/highway. I haven't really been flooring it, but I just got to break-in mileage not too long ago, so that's metric is subject to change.

Take a look at the front tires of ANY Lexus you see. They're pitch black from brake dust. Unfortunately, Lexus is notorious for this problem. I had an IS too. There is no way brake pads on that IS could last 40, 60, 80k miles. Even if you drive on the highway you still brake occasionally, slowing down to get off at ~70MPH takes a toll on the pads after a while. If he says they've lasted that long then either he's full of it or they were replaced during service and he didn't know so assumes they've lasted 40k+ miles.

Just got my G...

first tank = 22.3 mpg

This is about 75% hwy. with cruise...which is a good idea from both an mpg and no speeding ticket point of view.

Not hammering it yet...still breaking in...totally loving the 6-speed! although still going through the learning curve of shifting smoothly..

at least gas prices have gone down a bit thanks to our crappy economy. my meter right now reads 20.5, the same reading I got on my last 2 tanks. my first tank came out to 18.5...no idea why...that was when i babied it the most too.
