No VIN plate!

No VIN plate!
I just went and looked in the usual location for a VIN plate and it isn't there! I thought maybe I was crazy and it's in a different location, but the manual says it's supposed to be on the dash near the base of the windshield in front of the driver like it has been in every car I've ever owned. It's not. Anyone else have this???

VINs are not etched on windows as a replacement for the VIN plate - I believe the plate is a federal requirement as is the location for the purposes of confirming registrations against displayed tags, etc.
If you don't have a plate - I would suggest a quick visit to the dealer, sounds VERY suspicious.

No etching. It's stamped on the chasis where it should be, it's on the ID plate on top of the passenger strut tower, and it's engraved on the engine where it should be. Just no dash plate. I don't have my digital camera at home, but I'll get an iPhone pic.
