Strange cracking sound coming from the back of my car

Yesterday I noticed a strange cracking sound coming from the rear of the car on the driver’s side. It sounds like its coming from the outside. It only makes the noise when I reach and exceed 75-80 mph. I’ve had the car for over a month and this is the first time I’ve heard it. I’ve checked all seat belts, truck, sunglass holder, glove box, and other the other possible places and still have not found it. But it doesn’t sound like its coming from the inside, instead it sounds like its coming from the rear drivers side wheel area. I’ve also checked under the car to see if I was dragging anything.

I don’t want to take it to the dealer until I have an idea what it is, because they never take you seriously unless they can easily reproduce it.

Thanks for any help.

I was thinking about that, but you need to be going over 75mph before it will make the sound...would be hard to find somewhere to do it at and I would only have a split second to listen. I was thinking of sitting in the back seat while my gf drives and see if i can locate it.

I'd still take it to the dealership and document the problem.

Maybe you could put it on a dyno to get it up to speed and still listen from the outside.

That is the sounds of hearts breaking as they view the car from the rear.

I know you said you checked the seat belts, but try buckling them and hit 70mph.

I heard a vibrating noise I was sure was coming from the rear window, sure enough it was the seatbelt.

if none of the other options work, you could try riding next to it in another car and see if you can figure out where it's coming from
