^^^definitely a rip-off. I had a new key made for my 03 Maxima and nowhere near that cost. Go get a blank key on eGay, than take it to a locksmith that can cut and program the key. If you do not have one of those around, take the blank key to the dealership, have them do it. Shouldn't cost any more than $100 to cut and program. Make sure you have all your keys there at once because they need to repogram them all at the same time.

I bought one for $12.21 shipped on ebay and then got a note from the seller that he would refund me because he "lost" it. I personally believe the SOB had seller's remorse because he hoped it would go for more. For that price it was worth buying it to have around in case I lose or break one.

I have a Lexus GS400 and the reason why its so expensive with Lexus is because that's the price for a reprogram of the internal programming that aceepts the key, meaning if u want to CHANGE the key's coding if your keys are lost or stolen and you want to be safe.

Just a new key identical to your system's key-code is actually like around 200 bucks. It's the hefty reprogram that's pricier. Lexus over here in MI, my local dealer actually says they waive that once in my car's lifetime so Im good...

They actually reprogram the car. Any I-key that is not paired to the car at same time is rendered useless.

When trying to sell me the Point of Sale Key Package, the dealer told me $500. I doubt it is $500. I'm thinking $250 plus programming costs.

And no... I did not purchase that.

What is the Point of Sale key package? I never heard of that. Is that the upgraded security w/ ignition kill and stage 2 shock sensors?
