G37 Exhaust Note

I saw a G37 go by on the road today and boy did that thing sound sweet, it sounded even better the the G35c..But what i was wondering is if the exhaust note is always noticable in the cabin of the G37? I think it could get annoying when you dont want to hear it even though most of the time i would love to hear it! Thanks!

Not as noticable. The sound dampering in the G37 is very good.

My exhaust has gotten louder with age. But from the inside, I can still barely here it..just a subtle note. Of course...listen to the other car I drive regularly...I am probably not the best person to just sounds.

It's very quiet in the cabin. I will roll down the windows and listen to it sing at high rpms from time to time. It sounds like an exotic to me at high revs and is really a sound I would not want to modify. I think Infiniti tuned this exhaust note perfectly

Love the stock exhaust note. I think it's a perfect blend of volume and subtleness.

I can't hear the exhaust from the inside, I have to roll down the windows in order to hear it.

Maybe someone can take sound video of their car passing by, so that we can get a true feel for what it sounds like to other people, while we are driving by.

Good thread Disasterpiece, you've actually touched on one of the things I don't like about the G37. My fiancee was following me once and she said the thing sounded awesome when accelerating. I've also seen video clips of the exhaust which sound amazing. This is also one of the things I loved about my old G35C, the exhaust note is even better in this car IMHO much more aggressive and deeper, however I can BARELY hear it sitting in the cabin so it's very hard to enjoy!!

The sound deadening is truly Lexus/BMW like in this car. Compared to the G35C it is like the difference between listening to music at a rock concert and listening to it from a guy with headphones on. It gives a more refined luxury feeling that's for sure, however I would have liked to hear it more. Even in the higher revs I find the sound is nothing like what every other person on the street gets the pleasure of hearing. You do get the low roar of the exhaust from inside the cabin, which actually makes the car feel like there's a V8 in the bay, but I know the sound is much better on the outside. Like others have said previously, I also find myself from time to time rolling down the window just so I can hear more of it. So to answer your question, no it isn't annoying at all inside the cabin since you barely notice it at all.

I love gunning the engine when you're going through a tunnel. Sounds amazing. Also, I was driving my wife's car while she was driving mine and had her floor it when she was going by. Definitely a different sound than being in the driver's seat!

sound deadning material must be packed to the gills....if you want to hear your exhaust more you can reduce the amount of sound deadning stuff in your car AND reduce weight as well (from what i hear that stuff is heavy). but of course you lose that refinement aspect of it.

personally i hate the fact you cant hear the exhaust while the windows are up. I like hearing my cars notes. thats why i always go aftermarket. but for an oem system it sounds beautiful with the windows down...

Looks like several options:
1) Drive with all windows down in a gangsta lean , in particular, the "sho yo mug" variation out the window
2) Everytime you see a fellow G37, you do a courtesy rev for the other,
that way you each get a chance to rev like mad Vrooommm! and as you go by
3) Never ride without another G37, get all your friends to buy a G37 as well, and ride in packs revving like wild hound dogs
