Does the G37 Ride Better than the G35c

Just about to trade in my '04 Coupe for a G37 just wonering if it rides better than the old coupes. I only got to drive it for a few miles and with new tires and the highway I wasn't really about to tell. I've heard its like night and day compared to the old coupe but for those of you that have owned both, how is it??

I went through the same thought process before i turned in my '06 coupe. Let me tell you now that i've had the G37 for 2 months. It is "night and day". The G37S feels so much better in every way .....did i say every way ?

The G37S 5AT almost drives like a different car when compared to the G35 5AT. It feels so much faster. The G35C has a huge lag when you step on the gas, but the G37 got rid of that problem. Road noise is much lower and much higher quality inside and out. To put it is perspective, the imporvement on the G37 over the G35c, i would price it at about $5,000 - $7,000. Since the MSPR increased only by $1,000 or so, the G37 is a steal in my opinion when compared to the G35C.

I am comparing only the 5ATs. I think the imporvement on the 6mt is less (power wise at least).

p.s. i had both my G37S and G35C at the same time for 1.5months so i compared them almost every day

I sure hope they improved the suspension and did some undercoating to deal with the water from rain and road noise.

why would u say the improvement is less on the 6MT? Assuming the driver knows what he's doing the power may be more optimized on the 6mt...and techniques like power shifting can be employed....please explain?

He is talking about the comparable differences in the old generation vs the new generation. Basically there was more room for improvement in performance of the older 5ATs.
That difference is much greater for the old 5AT vs the new 5AT. There is less of a difference between the old 6MT and the new 6MT when compared to the differences between the old AT and new AT in overall feel and performance.

tomcat146 is referring to the power improvement from 5AT to 5AT and 6MT to 6MT in his statement. No doubt the actual 6MT transmission is much more optimized over the 6MT of the G35C.

(according the latest ISO standards)
06 G35C 5AT -> G37 5AT increase of 55 bhp
06 G35C 6MT -> G37 6MT increase of 37 bhp

Nope, the performance difference is very obvious on the 6MT as well. The final gear is shorter and it shows. My 08 G37 6MT pulls much harder at any speed than my 06 6MT.

I second the night&day comparison. The G37 is smooth, quiet, and refined, yet has less body roll and thus better handling than my G35C.

And yes, the undercoating is there to deal w/ water/gravel noises -- take a look at the thick black felt in the rear wheel wells of the G37....

Now I'm even more disappointed I didn't wait for the G37. I got rid of my G3 because of the harsh ride, cheap looking interior and thatnhorrible seat. The seat was the main thing. So they improved the interior. Now I hear they improved the ride. What about that horrible seat?

Guys please dont turn this into a Transmission/performance debate. The question was the ride quality. Subtract your transmissions, acceleration, track number times, etc thoughts or 2cents out of the equation because it's not needed in this thread.

Yes, I was referring to the higher hp gain on the 5at vs. the 6mt, on everything else, same great improvement. I am glad to hear that we are all loving the new G .

Diamond,
What was so wrong with the G35C suspension? Just curious on your take, because I loved mine...

While on the ride quality, can someone chip in on the non-sport suspension vs sport suspension? Thanks

Well Sport suspension will be a little bit more aggressive. Still comfortable but more of a "detailed" ride if you know what I mean...

How big of difference though? I am driving a 2003 Camry right now, what can I expect from sport/non-sport suspension? I assume non-sport will obviously rides better than Camry since it's 10k more expensive, what about sport?
