Here's a novel thought... slow the hell down and obey the law! I see several opinions on how harsh it is to have your car impounded or your license suspended. Is everyone forgetting that operating a motor vehicle on a public road is a privilege not a right? If you are thumbing your nose so flagrantly at the law (whether you like it or agree with it or not) you should be OK with the consequences of your actions. No, I don't think it should be up to an officer to use discretion except in emergencies; like transporting someone to a hospital with a life threatening condition. 8 to 10 mph is not reckless driving, 31 mph is.

My day job is in transportation safety. As non commercial drivers you have it easy. If one of our drivers were to get such a citation, on the job or off, he will lose not only his license or vehicle, but also his ability to make a living because he will be fired and unhireable. People who are doing this kind of thing in a "3700 lb car" are screwing with our 80,000 lb truck's ability to control his vehicle by weaving in and out of traffic, cutting into his space cushion he needs to safely stop, and just being a general nuisance to the general public who are obeying the law. People who drive recklessly like this cause an accident and then speed away as my driver has an accident because of them, gets hurt, and causes thousands of dollars of damage. Screw 'em; lock them all up and take away their keys. [/soapbox rant regarding people who think they are great drivers but are menaces to society and then cry when they get caught]

BlackBetty for President!!

You don't get something like this installed on your car unless you've been found to have done something seriously wrong!

People are coming to this clown's defense? WTF?

If he had killed your wife/girlfriend/mother/child, would you be so concerned about the loss of his driving PRIVILEGES? I think not!

Get real.

sorry i took so long

I got pulled over for driving with a suspended license and i also have 19 points on my license, court ordered i am required to attend 12 weeks of the d.r.i.v.e program (driver rehabilitation) and am required to have the black box in my car for one year. its part of my probation, the black box monitors how many G's i make a turn i am not allowed to deaccelerate, accelerate or turn over .45 G's it then flags into the system and shows left or right turn at tells the amount of g's i made the turn at. this black box is underneath my seat and a cord is ran to my ECU. thats about it... anymore questions??
