I solved the floor mat problem

by placing a rubber band around the top of the peg. now no slippage.

Nice - I had used a black paperclip......a black rubber band would be less visually unappealing.....

My problem isn't that the mat would come off the peg, rather it would pivot around it and cause it to bunch up near the accellerator. I think this happens mainly when i enter/exit the car. Probably some velcro tape will help keep it in place..
