but the acceleration "in-gear" is quicker with the 6mt.
the gears are better, and there is less power loss thru the tranny.
however, most manual drivers don't shift perfect (or anywhere close)
so like said..... not that big of a deal.

It's normally because folks are misinformed/ underinformed ... In the past it came from AT drivers most of the time who were not aware of the differences between the two. Here recently it often this comes from those who soley subscribe to manuals who have not researched the improvements in the AT.
I would think that such performance focused individuals would do a little research first or be better informed regarding both versions of the vehicle- or at least would have kept up with the performance and dyno results posted on this forum and on the internet. It's not that hard to do a search.
One can argue the fun factor but that is subjective. Dynos and performance results though are what they are- both cars evenly matched.

The BMW Auto in the 335 is not sequential and shifts at 100ms. (1/10th/sec)
I believe the Infiniti from the earlier press release is 150ms.
If you can shift a manual that fast, everytime, you're damn good.
IMO, the manual in the G37 is all wrong. Engages too high, shifter is too small with a rubbery feel. This car seems much more natural with the Auto, although I would have preferred a 6sp, too. Mostly because I will take this car to the track occcasionlly and like the closer ratios. Not a deal breaker though.

I agree that the clutch is poor in the 37, I was incredibly disappointed to see that Infiniti had still not learned their lesson from the clutches in the previous G. It still catches waaay high and now it is super-light feeling too, which is a tough combination.
