g37s 6MT disappointing "off the line.'
I am a bit disappointed with my g37s acceleration "off the line." The dealer keeps on telling me that after the break-in, it will change. Sounds like dealer talk to me. Any input on this? I must say, 2000RPM and up it is a jet, but the initial acceleration leaves something to be desired.
I am currently at 300 miles.
BTW, love the car otherwise.

I can't speak for the 6MT, but my 5AT is definitely getting stronger. I'm at 2,500 miles.
In addition, I've noticed my gas mileage improving by about 0.1 mpg every other tankful, or 800 miles.
I think you'll be happy in a few thousand miles.

Give it time. I am a little over 1800 miles in my 5AT and it is noticeably better than when I first took delivery. It seems like new cars are just set up this way.
I took my car to the 1/4 mile track at about 1300 miles and was embarrassed to post the times. They were pretty far off of what other memebers and magazines are getting. Of course everyone else had much higher milage so once I pass 3000 miles I am going to go again and post the differance. I am sure it will be faster next time around.
In the meantime, I just keep driving and enjoying this great car!!!

ECU is more restrictive early in the break in period.
After break-in, reset th ECU and chang eout all your fluids- then you will notice it getting stronger and stronger particularly after 3000 miles.

It ain't no Z06 buddy. It's not like it's churning out 400 ft-lbs off idle. I find it odd that you're complaining about the G37s lack of torque BELOW 2k rpm when the motor is known for its mid and high range (at least in HR form) pull.

brudda, dmk and all other g37 fanboys. I realize that my post offends your mere existence. After all, how dare anyone insult your prized possession?
But you see, I already corrected for this. I do not expect my G to out-drag a z06, or even a 335i for that matter. BUT, even considering the fact that the G is a mid-range player, it still leaves some to be desired at the low rpms.
I must say, the tone of your post tells me that deep inside, you think it could use a bit of extra kick too when that light turns green. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone.

lol, touche Boazilla....well put...
I see where Boazilla is coming from but hey at least we are better off in our G's in the low range rpm's than some stock cars (*cough* s2k*cough)
Anyhow I only have 350 mi on mine and am waiting to take it past 4RPM until I hit 1,500 miles, an extra 300 to be safe. as u can probably already tell it's a purchased and not leased. oh and i work hard for the money!

I'm at 1500 miles and getting fluids changed this weekend. Who (or how) does an ECU reset?
