g37s 6MT disappointing "off the line.'

orlando-33 has all indications of being a troll- I say just ignore him. Too bad there isn't an ignore button on these forums (or maybe I am missing it)

Not to start a pissing match but I would suggest some research
Engines are built with such low tollerances there is not much to break in (although ther e is some break-in but not enough to make the car feel that much more "sluggish" per se). The ECU however does "learn" your drivng habits which early in the breakin period, you are "teaching" it conservative habits. ECUs are sometimes even programmed to be more conservative during the first few hundred miles. To say that "it has nothing to do with the ECU" and imply that it is solely because the engine isn't physically broken in is completely incorrect.

i think people are getting a little sensitive. orlando333 maybe a little too direct but there is nothing he posted that was not entirely false. his stable consists of cars that easily overpower the G. so in relative terms...yes it seems slow.
In reference to the OP's initial post, "getting off the line" is not what the G37 was made to do. that is like saying an S2000 doesn't have a lot of power below vtec...it's a given. again the OP was not bashing the car, as stated he loves the car. he is just pointing out quirks. no car is perfect...and if you can name one...you're a fan boy.
the G37 is a great car. was it made to battle an E46 M3...no. Is it made to out accelerate a 335i from a dig? no.
people should love the car as it was made..a good competition to the 3 series with many improvements over the G35. that's it. as much as i'd like to thik my G37 is some sort of power monster, it's not. it's not going to post eye-popping numbers at the track...nissan made it clear that that honor goes to the nismo 350z..but it's a great sporty luxury coupe with great pull on a roll.
that's why i got it. now to all who have bought it soley as a performance car...then...i shall grieve for you.

+1. But also glad to see you have a good post for a change compared to your other flaming ones here and on my350z.com

what the hell happened in this thread since i've been out??

If Al Unser Sr saw fit to send Al Unser Jr to Skip Barber and Mario saw fit to send Michael to Skip Barber, even after both had a few good years of competition under their belts, I do not understand why your son would not benefit from driving school.

WTF... How did we go from the thread topic of the car not having enough acceleration from a dig, to Jeff Gordon and Kart racing and driving school?
Holy smokes, this thread went down hill quick...

Oh, I agree some people are out of control on this thread. No flaming or personal insults are called for.
I have no problem with people posting up facts:
Could use more torque
Could use more low end power
Too heavy
But when people troll - i.e. making inflamitory statements without facts to back it up. They don't pass go, dont collect $200, and go straight to my ignore list. Good day.

Keep in mind that ECUs are also often programmed to run rich to protect the engine during early break-in. I can't confirm this for the G37 but that was my understanding of the 03 G35 and various other high performance engines such as the RX8.

sometimes things can be taken the wrong way especially when it's in the internet. but hey...it's all part of the game being in a forum with so many people and so many different personalities.
...isn't that right SOLO-350Z?...

I am very happy with the G37 and I got out of a 350Z. It gets me where I am going just about as fast as I want to get there.
The mid range speed is great I even have to check my speed on the freeway to make sure I am not crusing at 90.
It all comes down to one thing, are you happy with your car? If so then it really doesnt matter what someone else thinks.
