Break-in almost over- time to open "er up!!!
just over 1000 mi. , approaching 1200. (why 1200 and not an even 1000?).
I can't wait to really have some fun. not that driving in the sedate manner I have been hasn't been fun. the power band is very good, even no going over 4500 rpm), passing other with ease.
BUT...DOMO

Luckly (or NOT) I drive 26 miles to work. good news is it's all highway and against traffic so only takes me 20 or so minutes. of course, I go through a lot of gas.

Congrats on the new car, from which dealer did you get yours? If you don't mind me asking, did they go below MSRP and how was your overall experience buying the car. I'm looking to get a G37 pretty soon, but I'm not very familiar with any of the Detroit area Infiniti dealers. Thanks for your help.

Here are the secrets:
Talk to to the dealer and take breaks on your cell phone as if you are calling other dealers (like Ann Arbor or Troy) and striking a better deal with them. That freaks them out more - and say that if you get the most possible off your sticker (like 3-4K off) that you will leave with the car - but don't sign anything until you're ready.
Now the tactic worked for me - and also I showed them a check written $12k right there for the down payment with the Pay to Order line empty and I told them that I would write it to one of the other dealers easily if they go lower, when really in my head it was all reverse psychology cause Troy had the Black on Black Fully Loaded 6MT I wanted. Even when they talk to Chase or whoever about the finance interest rate - you can have them haggle with Chase for a better rate. They first told me Chase said 6.50% which was pretty whack so I had them haggle Chase more to get 5.8% which is halfway decent. I plan on paying it off in 2-3 yrs by paying in double every payment and chipping away at the principal loan.
Those were my haggle tactics and while the savings weren't huge - they are substantial considering that it's a new car, in pretty high demand, and limited in quanitities.
Anyways if you are serious about buying in the Detroit area, Private Message or AIM me because I have my Sales Guy's card and the Finance Lady's information - I can give it to you. My sales guy was cool- he wasnt gimmicky or cheesy he was to the point and understands that we know what is under the hood, have seen it on the Motor Trend cover, and have YouTubed the car's features already haha. His name was John at Suburban Infiniti Novi.

I went in with a 04' g35 to trade in and $10,000 cash and I acted like I had other places I could get it. Yet they still wouldnt give me ANYTHING off MSRP. But I got it like 2 months ago so maybe theyre doin deals now.

Well I live in Sterling heights which is closer to Suburban Infiniti of Troy however I was trigger happy and wanted my G37 literally a week after I first saw it at the Infiniti site. So I called Suburban Troy which is in the Troy Motor Mall near 15 mile and Coolidge...
Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably see what dealerships in the Metro Detroit area will give VPP pricing (my sister-in-law works for a Nissan vendor). Called Infiniti Customer Relations and VPP pricing is up to the dealership to give (or not). I'll see if there are any takers since demand, I would assume, would still be high for a G.
Since I'm importing the G to Canada, I'm not sure how dealers will "bite" on VPP pricing in my situation ... we'll see how that goes...

I too am in metro detroit area and I live right near Surburban Infiniti of Novi. My salesguy who sold me my current 06 is Stan, and he too is pretty straight forward with no gimmicks.
Even though I refuse to get this car without VPP (my employer is Nissan supplier) he still has not pressured me into getting the vehicle.
One guy I talked to at the Troy dealer was pretty cool, but most of the sales ppl there had some snob attitude towards me. I do look young for my age (26), but when I got my 06 last year at Novi delearship I was on my way to the gym and wearing basketball shorts and cutoff t-shirt and those guys treated me like royalty.
We'll just have to wait and see how they act once VPP is available. Your game of playing those dealers off each other might just work (even though they are sister dealerships)
