G37 vs. Coupe Concept

G37 vs. Coupe Concept
Having spent the better part of a weekend detailing my new AG G37, including removing the G37S badging but leaving all the rest, I cannot help but feel that it is nearly the same car as the concept.
Sure, some of the obvious concept-only things are different -- crazy blue headlights, camera mirrors, 20" wheels, ridiculous interior. But, to me, for the most part these cars are the same. All the major design cues are the same, from the lowered shoulders and trunk lid, chrome lip, character line down the side, hood lines, grill design, curves near front splash guards, tail light design, even the windows are basically the same lines. The design of the wheels is the same, despite the smaller size.
So... why do so many people hate on the G37 saying things like "too bad it doesn't look like the concept" ? How am I missing these horrid differences?
I was going to take some pics from the same angles as the concept pics and point out the similarities, but then I realized I'd be pointing out the whole car. So then I thought, ok, then I should point out the differences. Trouble is, I don't see very many apart from obvious concept-only things.
What do ya'll think?

I agree with you on that. I think this car is the closest you can possibly get to a concept. That is why i was a little shocked by people who were dissapointed in the fact that the concept didnt go through. Do they ever?

I also noticed with the concept the head lights were flush with the body (which I think looks better), the production looks like it is slightly bug eyed and the grill looks smaller on the concept.

Unrealistic expectations!
Seriously, The concept is an awesome looking vehicle. My initial hopes was that Infiniti would bring it to market untouched. The more I looked at it, the more I realized that was unlikely.
There are things I wish had remain the same, especially the headlights. I agree with you however, that the car fundamentally looks the same as the concept and I cannot understand how people can praise the concept and trash the G37. The funny part is they things people complain about, like the front bumper (Too rounded), are exactly the same thing they complained about on the Concept (too pointed).
Go figure!!!

The only design cue I wish they kept from the concept was the mufflers in the rear bumper. Like the Lexus LS'. That would look sick!
IMO, the G37 isnt far from the concept. But being in love with the G35's design, it took a while to fall inlove with the G37. Let's just say, I've moved on.

Definitely as close as you can come to a concept while meeting all the different regulations.
If you want to see a car that basically looks exactly like the concept minus the blue HID's, flush headlights, and all of the other miscellaneous minor changes, look at this car...
The car is dropped perfectly and it is sitting on 20's just like the concept. The only differences now are the headlights, mirrors, glass roof, and the less aggressive rear fender. Add those to this picture and BLAM...you have your concept.

It seems like months since the G37 came out and I have more confidence Jesus will return than I have confidence I will see a G37 with some rims in the next two months. More pic's of this car is certainly not too much to ask. You can't make out much from that view.

Although "similar", the concept looks 100x better. The concept is sleeker, the lines were a lot better.
The G37 is obviously more "BUBBLY" on the front fender hood area.
The concept also had a parallel body line. Meaning the front and the rear were basically the same width.
THe G37 had a wider front fender and a thinner rear fender making the car look like this: / \ (front wider then rear)

They goofed on the front fenders, roof, rear, and not addressing the bad MPG. I go back to what INFINITI said when they introduced the concept. I don't remember the EXACT verbage, but he said the production car would basically be identical to the concept coupe. So to me, it was disappointing, enough so that I jumped ship and bought the 335. Love infiniti, but no regrets on this one, not even for a sec. May go back someday, we will see.
