G37 vs. Coupe Concept
#47
People don't buy BMW for the name. Well, I'm sure some of them do, and the girls that buy them probably do, but most do not. People drive them because they kick azz, period. Just look at all the automotive reviews. They win just about every one, doesn't matter if it's the coupe, the sedan, the 5 series, convertibles, no matter. They just drive superior to most everything else out there, have great resale value and warranty, better fuel economy, and most look really nice (335 in particular).
If you want to talk about buying because of the name, that would be MERCEDES, Range Rover, JAGUAR, all cars that are inferior in many cases to a BMW or INFINITI, yet sell because of the panache and expensive price.

so who ever said that obviously dont have a clue. and if you honestly believe that MERCEDES, Range Rover, JAGUAR are inferior to BMW you need to lay of the crack pipe.
and Nissan/infiniti its just now really getting into the true sports luxury car game and have come far pretty quick to have the G37 rival the 335i the way it does and have alot of car mags pick it over the 335i. so they are here now.
But alot of people would pick toyota/Lexus over BMW if lexus catered to sports as well as luxury. But they have always been more abou tluxury but thats all about to change now with the F series.

Well, how many times have you seen a production car be the same as the concept? If they were supposed to be the same, then there would be no reason to call one a "Concept" car!
By the way, I have to say this, some people don't have a clue what they want in a car. They may not even know what the name Infiniti stands for when shopping for a sports car.
I personally like the Infiniti brand, because it is an alternative to the BMW, with better looks (that's personal) similar performance, better reliability, and competitive price. I personally could care less about not carrying the BMW badge on my car. Let's face it, it's not about the brand, it's about the whole package. For me, the choice is clear.
By the way, the G37S will be landing in my garage in a day or two.
Cheers!

I agree with you on the price increase. If sales are truly sluggish, it has nothing to do with the G's looks. THe G is still one of the most gorgeous cars on the road. The are just as many people the like the looks of the G37 as there are people that like the looks of the 335i. Then there are people that like the looks of both cars (ME!!!).
So that must mean there is a reason people aren't picking the G over the 335i?
It's a higher price (than last gen.), lack of cachet, and and ignorant customer base. There are still people that have no clue what Infiniti is. Infiniti doesn't help themselves (I think their marketing is anemic). That's what Infiniti has to fight, unfortunately.

I think the major problem for this new series of G's is that it doesn't distinguish itself enough from the previous generation. People want their car to look brand new/ground breaking and this generation just takes too many of its styling traits from the old one.

I agree with you that Infiniti is an excellent alternative to BMW and the like. They're very nice cars and offer unique styling and performance at more affordable prices.

Infiniti engineers really messed up big time, they should hire me as their lead engineer, I will make the G37 the hottest car ever, not looking something like this..!!!

It comes down to the buyer. Many of you love the new G37 and rightly so. It still is a good looking car and has great performance. Have fun with your new wheels folks.
