Just look at the percentage of people on the G sites that aren't happy with the G37 looks. It's over 50% in both pools I saw.
Just look at UNIT sales for the more expensive 3 series coupes for 2007/2008 and compare to the G37. The 335 was an instant HIT and has stayed HOT for over a year now. The buzz on the G37 started fizzling after only a few months. BMW dealers have NEVER had 335 coupes in stock on lots, almost always had to order with industry wide HIGH turnover rate. G37 are in stock on many lots and inventory supply is going UP, big time. Within a month or two, they will be lined up on the lots and then the discounts will come.

I have to agree with this. No local bmw dealers have 335's in stock at all. each one that comes in is already pre sold. All three of the local infiniti dealers near me have an *** load of G37's. every color, every model. They are even willing to sell under sticker already....

I think the price increase on the G37 is what is hurting sales. I was shocked by how much the price has gone up over the '07. Of course, with the improvements made you expect the price to increase, but not to the extent that it has. I live in Tampa Bay and have only seen a single G37 on the roads so far, and I drive the busiest highways in the area every day.

Disagree, it's not close enough. Otherwise I wouldn't have a 335i coupe on order as we speak. I would have seriously considered staying a G owner if the concept came out in production.

Good luck all you G37 owners. I'll miss my G35 for sure but the 335i is a pretty nice car too and a tad faster.

Yeah, the looks just killed it for me. I wanted the G37 to have some nice new lines on it and get away from the sedan looking front end. Although it has a nice increase in HP, I would have expected better performance numbers out of it too.

BLUF, I went the 335i coupe route. Test drive was a lot of fun so ordered one. I'll miss my G35 though.

Looking at that concept pic, it's like the current version they took the "sport" out of the car and softened the whole thing. That picture gets me excited about the car. Looking at the actual production model now just doesn't do the same thing for me.

I agree with you on the price increase. If sales are truly sluggish, it has nothing to do with the G's looks. THe G is still one of the most gorgeous cars on the road. The are just as many people the like the looks of the G37 as there are people that like the looks of the 335i. Then there are people that like the looks of both cars (ME!!!).

So that must mean there is a reason people aren't picking the G over the 335i?

It's a higher price (than last gen.), lack of cachet, and and ignorant customer base. There are still people that have no clue what Infiniti is. Infiniti doesn't help themselves (I think their marketing is anemic). That's what Infiniti has to fight, unfortunately.

I have to say I agree with your statement. I cross shopped the 3 series, but in the end, it just didn't do anything for me, it didn't stir anything in my heart, though I will admit it is a nice car. Like you, I think there is a large group that chooses the 3 because of the name it carries, because the G does not have the same cachet. However, I have never cared for have something purely as a status symbol. I couldn't be happier with my G37!

I am sorry, just my opinion, it looks nothing like the concept. Concept wows me but G37 doesn't period.

If they kept the same exact styling, I'd bought it already, but the G37 looks so bad, that when I went to test drive it, my G35 coupe looks much better.

G37 has that weird looks, from the front, it looks like a Frog's head...
while the look of the concept just blew me away...

No offense to the G37 owners, like I said it's my opinion.

But I have to add that it's not as screw up as what Mit Eclipse did to their new model, that car looks ridiculasly ugly. Don't you agree?

Same...just like I'd probably go for a GT-R. A comfortable supercar? Isn't that an oxy-moron? Not to mention the price. About the only thing it doesn't have is prestige. I can live with that.

I mean the one from the window to the side skirt, not the side skirt itself.
On the g37 its rounded out, like most of the lines have become.
