G37 veers off to the right

hey, when driving at 50-70mph, my car tends to veer off to the right, untill i adjust it back straight, why does this happen? do i need an aligment?

thanks

Is there a crown on the roads you use to test this? Most roads "slope" from the center to the edge for drainage, and a car whose alignment is set "neutral" will follow this slope or crown and drift slightly to the right.

+1

Also, the new G35 and G37's tend to follow creases and grooves in the road a bit more than they should. I'm not sure why.

It's the low profile tires I think.

Didn't someone say the wheels have positive or negative camber? Like they said it "looks", not sure if it was ever confirmed.

But you have wide tires, low profile tires, funky roads... the car will do just about anything at this point. Just keep your hand on the wheel and you'll be fine

It's usually the zero toe, and the effects are magnified by the low profile front tires. Adding a little bit of toe in will improve the tracking, but at the expense of initial cornering turn-in.

I think it says in the manual that you are supposed to keep your hands on the steering wheel.

(sorry, had to do it)

Beat you to it bud

Hell, even my Integra with 205's rips my arms out. Sometimes depending on the roads, it can get pretty harsh

What I've noticed is that in order to go in a straight line I must hold the steering wheel slightly off center (the Infiniti symbol is a great way to judge this). Not sure what causes this phenomenon but it is a bit annoying. Had the same problem with my last G. After adjusting the alignment everything was fine but with the 37 it doesn't make sense since the car is brand new.

**scratching head**

Even a brand new car can be out of alignment. Take her in and have it checked. Show them what you are talking about with the steering wheel and they should make it right.

Although my car is an 04, I had a number of issues and a few threads as well with regards to not being able to have my steering wheel totally centered while driving on highways. No matter how many alignments were done and were all within specs, the steering wheel still was off centered on Parkways. I still notice the car wanting to veer to the right at high speeds in the far right lane. I don't notice this on any 07 G35 or earlier sedan loaners.

Roads have a "crown" to them, ie, they are angled to cause water to run off the road. If you are in the right hand lane, this would cause your car to want to go downhill (veer right). But if you were in the left hand lane, it would want to go left. Probably not the problem, but thought I would point it out.
