Not a good start for the coupe?

G Coupe Sales for August
August 2007 - 1,826
August 2006 - 1,983
Monthly % Change - -7.9
CYTD 2007 - 9,492
CYTD 2006 - 14,800
CYTD % Change - -36.2
The QX is up nicely though. Infiniti is up 10% this month. That's something to celebrate.
Wait a minute! I just realized that it was officially out Aug 21st. That's a hell of a start then! OOPS.

It only says G coupe, it doesn't differentiate between the G35 and G37? I would think this would be a combination of people holding out for the G37 and the fact that the G37 only reached dealers at the end of August. For a fair comparison, I would wait till there is a full year of the G37 on sale. Just my opinion.

I'd guess that it's not a great start for the g37. Maybe solid or good, but not 'great'.
There's a lease special on it already, after only a month?
I'm not complaining as I'm in the market to get a g37. I was planning on waiting, but this may speed up the buying process a bit.
Granted, there could be numerous reasons for the special....low sales of that specific model, etc.

That's not great, and that's not bad either. I'm not sure if the sports bumper is still a factor. I understand lots of G35 couple owners not wanting to trade up to the G37 because of the sports front bumper design.

I will be more interested in the next couple of months. The first month, people might not know about it yet, inventory might be low, etc.
Also, does is this sales or deliveries? If someone pre-orders one, but doesn't take delivery until later, when is that sale counted?
And, as far as the lease specials are concerned, they aren't great of specials if you look into it. It is just a way to get people in the door thinking it is cheaper than they might expect it to be.
The sedan looks like it has really good numbers though:
2007 4,349
2006 3,056
Change 42.3%
CYTD change 58.8%
Sadly, that is the only + for Infiniti YTD. Good thing it is a strong plus though.

With teh uncertain economy, I perceive that car buying in general is down. We would likely see the biggest effect with coupes and sports. People are thinking more practical in their car buying. However if those numbers are based on deliveries- that's a lot for less than 1/2 a month.

Those numbers then would reflect g35 sales predominantly rite? If the g37 didnt go live till the 21st and the 21st is when the numbers were released, at best it only has preordered orders in there.
Finally, im happy its not doing to well, as i like the car and that will help lower the price....

Definitely too early to tell. It is true that car sales as a whole are down with the exception of Toyota and Lexus. Give it a few more months to get a true picture. If the numbers are still down by the beginning of 08 with a brand new model, Infiniti could be conceived as having sales issues.

I'm not terribly surprised. I've yet to meet someone I know that likes the new look. I would have bought the G37 except I think they ruined the front of the car. I waited an extra year just to see what the redesign looked like. Like most I was blown away by the concept...
