Did you purchase any extended coverage/warranty?
I was wondering if any body bought the extended coverage offered by the dealship and how much did it cost. At Niello Infiniti at Concord they were practically charging an arm and a leg for them.
Also with my black G37s, would it be wise to purchase the clear coat option (I think they call it car-plex or something) for about 1200? Its this coat they put over the car which makes everything wash away easily and you never have to wax it.

I did purchase the 7 year, 100K $0 deductible Inifiniti Elite warranty. I'll drive the car at least that far in 4-1/2 years commuting. I paid $1,500 for the warranty.
The cars I didn't buy the warranty for, I paid way over its cost in repairs. For those that I bought a warranty for, I've either broken even, or come close.
It's really just insurance and peace of mind. Plus, it's easier to justify buying a new car to the wife when the old one is "finally out of warranty"!

Not only do you pay a high premium up front, but you're also paying interest on a warranty that you may or may not use later on.
Meanwhile, if you have something like GEICO insurance, where they offer Mechanical Breakdown Insurance for just a few extra bucks per month on top of your insurance premium which covers everything except normal wear and tear and maintenance. Not only that, you can have it repaired at any licensed mechanic you want, not just at the dealership.

Still think you didn't get ripped off?

Yeah on a 48K car I am gonna be worried about a hundred dollars interest paid on 1000$ ...and the warranty is refundable (not 100%) if I dont use it and sell my car before I enter the extended warranty period. Or maybe I think the peace of mind is worth the 100 dollars saved? I certainly dont feel ripped off, thank you.
