How do you break in your G37?
I just picked up my G37 a couple days ago, and put in almost 300 miles within 2 days, mostly highway miles. The dealership tells you to vary your speed and what not but I was wondering more specifically, how you would break in your G37. I have a trip to LA (from SF) later this week and was planning on taking the car. Any suggestions on how I should drive it?

I try to drive normally during break in. It is much harder in this car than others I have had. With today's engines it is important to try to adhear to the manufactures suggested break in but if you cant do it completely, you are not going to ruin the engine.
Get in, drive and enjoy!!!!
Its kind of like this:

Thanks for the info guys, but what about the varying your speed part. If i'm gonna drive down to LA on I-5, its just one stretch of road all the way down. Should I go from say 60 to 80 to 95 and back down to 60? I know this may sound funny but its my first car and I want to baby it

I'm pretty sure that this topic is divided into two camps... the first, to follow the manufacturer's instructions (under 4k, conservative, varying speed) and the second, to break it in hard, as the setting of the seals/gaskets occurs in the first 20-50 miles.
I've always followed the first advice with all my prior vehicles... and I definetely think that the car somehow is slower...
For this one I've been driving it much harder, varying the speed as much as possible, but not taking it easy as before.

Ditto that... it's what a friend of mine who builds race-engines calls 'stretching the rods'. If it's going to break, why not have it break during the warranty?
