flat bed imo....dont you think being the first person to drive the car is all part of the experience? Plus i doubt the discount will be anything worthy of your time

the dealer is not being completely honest with you. my dealer is flatbedding one from white plains, new york to annapolis, md. the thing is, the ny dealer (as well as the dealership where your car is) will not give up one of these without getting one in exchange (its called a dealer exchange or dx).

now, where this gets interesting is the fact that the dealer in new york does not want to send someone to drive my car down because that means they will have to drive one back and put it on their lot with 400 miles on it. so the only solution was to flatbed one down and flatbed the other one back up. they are not charging me anything or offering me the flatbed in exchange for anything.

i'll be honest it depends on the price of getting a vehicle flatbedded. i do have some clients willing to pay for the flatbed and again driving one back does make more financial sense. i have guys that are retired police officers who drive our swapped vehicles and have been doing them for 5 years with us.

Flatbed it or wait for another. Don't let them drive it there. You never know how they are going to treat your car while driving it 220 miles. That is crucial break-in period.

I agree 100% with that. Flat bed or wait.

Horror story from the past - I had a dealer drive my new 1985 Toyota Supra from Baton Rouge to New Orleans (maybe 80 miles) and the douche bag driver managed to smoke at least a pack of cigarettes in the car!

Now that was 22 years ago, but since then, it's either bring it on a truck, or wait until they can get one in. You are paying mucho denero for this car, so you want/deserve/should expect it to be perfect on delivery.

Things to worry about on a pre-delivery road trip:

smoking in the car
rock chips in paint or windshield
flat tire
road debris hits underside of car
etc., etc., etc.

Paranoid rumblings? Maybe so, but if it's got more than maybe 25 miles on it, I consider it used.
