Sounds very fair assuming that they won't come off after washing the car. I will definitely look into these when I get the G37

I dislike rice-mobiles also but the taillight and headlight overlays look pretty tasteful in the photos. So as long as the big wings stay off as well as decals and letters. . .

ok.. so technically this is NOT a mod.. but i knew i needed a top notch radar detector the day i picked up the car... and found one of the coolest newest geek ready radar detectors out there. The passport 9500I includes a gps receiver within the device.

I drove around some of our outer highways surrounding boston today and it worked great. The very first thing i did was set it to display my speed all the time ala heads-up-display so i need not take my eyes off the road to check speed. It snags the gps signal within seconds of turning it on (and it announces it when signal lock is complete).. oh yea.. it talks as well. Some of you may love the val for its directional arrows but i'm not a fan. Reviews off this detector have all been supurb.

A few of the things i like about it.

- when radar detected your speed is shown
- grabs gps sig very quick
- can set to display speed all the time
- uses speech to keep you on top of things
- clean design
- use gps to mark false alarms so you never have to listen to that grocery store alarm ever again
- will be able to download packs of false alarms and speed traps from the net
- remote mute on power cord.
- since it knows your speed it lowers detector sensitivity when not driving fast.

all in all a very cool (but pricey) detector.

... ok.. now back to the real mods.

BM, how did u wire this in your car? Familiar with the invisicord? I have a Escort Passport 8500 x50 which i have hardwired to the power wires going into the rearview mirror of my car.
This eliminates that cord from dangling down and plugging into the cig lighter.

Can you tell me if the 9500i picks up the GPS signal if it's mounted on the visor? I've had my x50 mounted this way and I think it's the best location (can't see it from outside, so less likely I get my window smashed in for a stupid radar detector).

I have had Beltronics radar detectors in both my vehicles for the past 3 years now (not the same ones though, I have updated) and they work great. They have saved my *** numerous times. I can't even drive in a vehicle without one. It has become second nature. I have read on that new Gps Escort and it really sounds pretty cool.

Also, my husband has his detector mounted on his dash carpet in his camaro and has the cord run under the carpet to the side and then it is installed under the panels along the door and then under the passenger dash by your feet to the 12 volt. You never see the cord. I know that doesnt help most of us that dont have carpet but you can take panels off to install. He never takes the cord out anyways. But a visible cord is really tacky. And those cordless Escorts are just crap IMO.

Also, for those that may be considering a $100 radar detector, .....don't. Save your money for the ticket that you will be getting. Buy quality or dont buy at all.
