My mom said that she likes the car more than my brother's car, which is a G35 coupe.. or was, now he has a 335i. My brother said that it has improved also... primarily on the interior. He says that the interior alone wouldve been his reason to upgrade from his '03 G35 coupe. It's an entirely different car on the inside. but back on main topic... I dont know how long the break-in period for the G37 is but I'm assuming for like 1,000-1,500 miles.

I am a very satisfied Infiniti loyalist. Ive had 6 Q45's (1-1993, 2-1994T's, 1-1995, 1-1997, 1-2002) and my current 2003 G35 coupe, 2006 M45 Sport, now my G37 couple due end of August. I will keep my G35 when my G37 arrives, and get rid of an old Q with 135000 miles on it.
Keys to me are reliability, service at my dealer, a less common car than Lexus (fewer on the road) and love the luxury/performance ratio Infiniti has landed on.
Im retiring in 2 months and cant wait to spend some quality time on the road with my new G37<G>.

i was one of the first (if not THE first) person in Boston to put a deposit down on a g37 nearly five months ago right before NYIAS. The order mgr at my dealer told me today infiniti just sent my VIN number and i should expect my black on black around months end. My guess is that it takes a bit longer to ship those cars across the country to the east coast so many of you on the west may receive your ride sooner.
for those of you who work for infiniti.. can you explain what receiving my VIN means? In other words.. what does receiving a VIN mean to a dealer? I would expect a VIN is created at the time the car is built.. and if the car built is tied to my order shouldnt i receive a VIN at the same time? not after its been shipped and unloaded on the doc. Just curious as to the flow of things...

Merlin, your car will arrive at a port in New Jersey.
I looked up my posts from 03, when I was waiting for my coupe to arrive, we were tracking the ships at sea.
Once the dealer receives your vin, the car usually lands within 30 days, or that was how it worked for me.

Yeah, I received my vin# last friday, and I was like the 2nd person to place a deposit at my dealership. My salesman told me that he expects it the first week of September, though I am hoping it comes in a little bit early.

Damn, I guess I need to talk to my dealer tomorrow about this at the preview Show. I have already seen the car, but I want to go to the show too.
Where are you at Iansw? Seems like we have the same dealer that dont know crap.

Here's my understanding and status.
The VIN gets assigned once the vehicle is assembled and gets put on the transport. Once en route, it assumes a status of SIT.
I'm on the west coast (LA area) and my vehicle currently shows a status of SIT. The delivery date is stated as Sep 07, however Infiniti apparently now assigns a worst case delivery date for anywhere in the country. My delivery is expected to be sooner since I'm so close to the port. My dealer gave me the following expected dates:
Arrival at port - August 21
Vehicle invoiced - August 24
Delivery to dealership - August 27
