2004 G35 vs 2008 G37

There has been so much talk on this board about the new ride. It seems a lot of you have a newer G35. Mine's an '04. How much difference would you expect between an '04 coupe and an '08 coupe? I drove an '07 sedan loaner the other day and it sure seemed a bit quicker than mine. Any thoughts?

I'm thinking that the new car has got to blow doors off of my 280hp AT (and I'm pretty happy with the power I have already). Not to mention a stiffer suspension, bigger brakes and a faster tranny. The only thing I didn't like about the loaner was the throttle blip while downshifting in manual mode. It revved so high that it seemed to diminish the engine braking capabilities. Also when moving from a dead stop there was a delay in the acceleration pedal that isn't there with my car, it drove me crazy. I hope the new ride isn't like that.

Comments?

i had a 2003 g35 coupe.. with my black g37 arriving any day now. My expectation is that it's going to be just as fun and fast as my g35. Like you said.. the g35 c is plenty fast on it's own.. and if the new ride offers more.. then great! else it's still going to be a blast to drive and a fun car to be seen in. the interior improvements and new technology are icing on the cake. I don't think its going to "blow the doors off" your existing car.. because if I've learned anything on these forums is that when you're talking fractions of a percent you're not going to "want for more". If you track or mod your car then what it gives you stock doesn't matter as you'll prob upgrade to get more performance.

In terms of acceleration, it's not going to "blow your doors off your 280hp AT" but its going to be significantly faster if you drag race.

That delay inthe throttle response is due to the high stall torque converter that engages in MM.
You hit the gas it revs then it engages and you're off!

By the expression "Blow your doors off", im expecting atleast a full second difference in a 1/4 mile race.

The VQ35HR/VQ37VHR powered G's are significantly faster, but not to the point where I would state "blow your doors off" as compared to the 1st-generation G's. Something that would blow my doors off would be... something like the base C6 Corvette

That's just the way I see it

2003 G35 coupe/2008 G37

My new G37 is due in this month and I am more than ready to get it even though I havent seen the G37 in person yet. I have the first 2003 delivered by my west Houston Dealership, I drove it out on Halloween 2002. I am very happy with the G35 and planning to keep it when I get the G37 even though both are red in color. I am replacing my old 1995 Q45 my mother in law drives. Call me crazy....Infiniti Crazy<G>

I own the 06 coupe AT with 280hp. The new G coupe has 330 but same torque. Now when I first test drove it last year I had never driven something so powerful. Now that theres a 50hp jump cant wait to see the diffrence and this time I'm purchasing a 6mt. so watch out hope I can handle all that power.
