Was that Amethyst Graphite ?
Wow, those autospies peeps, where to for a test drive too!
The lucky seven parade: 2 Vibrant Reds, Athens Blue, Blue Slate, Liquid Platinum, Platinum Graphite, and Amethyst Graphite. Missing: Ivory Pearl and Black Obsidian.
Anyways, I was curious of this new Amethyst Graphite color and decided to track it in those photographs. At first, I wasn't sure that the 2 graphites were actually distinct, but I remember from the color palette that they did look alike.
The sport seems to be the Amethyst Graphite and the non-sport was probably Platinum Graphite, in some shots these two were hard to tell apart. The Liquid Platinum is easily distinguished from the graphites but it also showed some chameleon-like qualities where it seemed almost Ivory Pearl under direct sunlight.
In some shots, the purple could be seen although it is possible that the lighting played tricks on the camera. Here are some select shots. I notice how different it is under low or artificial light, almost just like Platinum Graphite.

Making a choice on color can be a very hard decision, not only the way it looks different under various lighting conditions but also these metallic paints can look different in person versus pictures, especially with all the curves on this car. Each color can look stunning under one or more conditions (direct sunlight, daylight, some clouds, artificial lights, evening, night, headlights / taillights on/off, country / city background, reflection of surroundings, etc.).
Some colors don't vary as much so would be a safer bet for those who don't like "mood swings" ... otherwise quite fun for the adventurous. Colors can say different things (sporty, racy , classy , hauling azz in style , sexy , delicious , etc.) to different people.
Well, I'm still pondering ... so many good choices .

The whole time I thought the amethyst graphite was the platinum graphite and the difference was due to lighting. The AG looks good! I don't see as much purple as I expected... it looks like a richer, slightly darker version of the PG.
Also, the Slate blue looks killer, and the Athens blue, which I initially dismissed completely, is kinda starting to grow on me... it looks way meaner and less boy-racerish than I originally expected.
Now I've "narrowed" (lol) my choices down to:
1. Black Obsidian = Platinum Graphite = Amethyst Graphite (3-way tie for 1st choice)
2. Slate Blue
3. Ivory Pearl = Athens Blue (tie for 3rd choice)
I'm hoping I will "know" right away when I see them in front of me.

Those AutoSpies photos really show how much a pristine clearcoat affects the look of the paintjob. I remember when my car looked like that 3 years ago, and reflected whatever lighting it was in so amazingly that I would just stare at it for a while after I parked it.
If I don't buy the G37 in its debut year (which is a possibility I'm considering), then I should get my G35 waxed/ polished/ detailed by a pro and try to get that look again.

I finally found the color palette and brochure with the picture. In that picture, it is a lot more purple, so now I'm having second thoughts as to whether that was Amethyst Graphite in the Autospies photos. What do you guys think?

^Blue Slate has grown on me the more I look at it... I'm starting to like it better than the black as the "dark color" choice. It is now tied for 1st place in my choices.
1. PlatinumG = AmethystG = Blue Slate (3 way tie for first)
2. Black Obsidian

those color palettes are not even close to what the colors look like on the car. For ex: the vibrant red loox dull but in every picture on the car it is definately vibrant! that will be my color.
