But you have to drive an Altima. There's always a catch.

Still 104 mph trap speed means there is alot of potential for fast times. It trapped the same as the 335.

No, the 37 weighs more because of the new 10" woofers in the doors, more sound deadening padding in the car, these new cast wheels, and other misc things. The G35 coupe weighs 3524, why would they need to reinforce the doors more when the G35 coupe was perfectly fine in accidents... What I know for a fact, is that the culprit of all this, is the shared FM platform.

Add another "pro" for Automobile Magazine! I liked it even better in the older days when Editor Davis and Jean Lindamood (now Jennings) were in their "frisky days."

I suspect there will be a small but lively aftermarket for new final drive/rear-end gearing for the G37, just as there was/is for the Honda S2000. Gives some nice gains in acceleration times and "butt-dyno 'feel'" at the expense of added fuel consumption. I have standard gearing in my S2K and it has enough punch to suit me fine ... I'll not be considering changes in final drive in my G37 unless I keep it until it's out of warranty ... won't be getting the car until May-June of 2008, so I am anxiously waiting for reports from early owners as to "road-feel" and overall satisfaction with the car. 0-60 is secondary.

IMO, acceleration times for, say 30-75 are much more meaningful than 0-60 figures, given the real world the day-to-day driver has to deal with. I love the drag races as an enthusiast, but the quality and performance level of actual handling road-feel/road manners are the most important things to me.

Interior and Exterior looks, quality of materials used and great F&F (fit&finish)
are obviously essential ingredients... so it's what the complete package brings to the table that sells the car in the end. We are fortunate to have a number of good cars to choose from nowadays. This was not always the case in years gone by.

If Porsches, BMWs and the G cars, for example, did NOT have great handling and very good to impeccable handling and 1st-class road-manners I doubt that many people would buy them; I for one, would not! Please excuse the rambling; got carried a-a-away

Anyone notice the automatic G37 has a shorter first gear than the 6mt? Wtf?

The main advantage of the 6mt in the G37 is 4th gear... In my G35C 6mt, 1st and 2nd are noticeably shorter than the G35C 5AT with 1st topping at about 40 and 2nd topping at about 63. Third is a joke -- much shorter and thus lots more pull than the 5AT.

With the G37 the gearing is much more similar between the 6mt and the 5AT, with more difference in the upper gears.... and I must say I'm amazed the 5AT has a shorter 1st gear ratio when it has one fewer gears.
