I'm having a hard time finding back issues of rags that go that far back. care to share your sources for these?

I bet when the XXX came out, (input any car here, G35, 335, Z06, Opal GT, heck, even the Yugo) the times put up in 1 car review were always different from another review. 2 months from now when another review comes out, they will be yet still new numbers, when you drive it, you will say hmmm, faster (or slower) then I thought.

Nothing beats the Butt Dyno, dont make a decision based on anything but the butt. To anyone who thinks these numbers will be the be all end all I say you aint see nothin, every car review the history of the industry has different numbers for the same cars since the dawn of time.

The three largest magazines have tested the G37 and all are within .1 second of each other. As far as magazine numbers are concerned, I'd say that's pretty concrete (again for magazine racing specs).

Also, pre-production cars seem to usually be faster if anything. For instance, the 95 Maxima did 0-60 in 6.6 seconds on it's first MT review. That was never repeated and by production time most magazines in roundups were getting 6.9-7.1. Original G35 sedan did 5.4 or 5.5, but production models and comparisons during the first model year had it at 5.6-5.7 more regularly.

Who knows what the particular case is here, but three different magazines have pegged this car as a 13.8-14.0 second car (aka high 13s) when we were sort of expecting mid 13s.

My original comment still stands accurate that the first performance related sneak peak from Automobile Mag led people to believe it'd be a 5.0-5.1 second to 60 car running mid 13s. The disappointment is not on the part of Infiniti as much as it is on Automobile Mags butt timer. Although even without Automobile Mag stating what they did, I'd of expected it to be like a 13.5-13.6 vehicle because of the 37 monkier, but now I see that as more of a countermeasure for the weight.

All the sedan reviews are showing 13.8-14.0 (auto and 6MT) 1/4 mile times but at 160 lbs lighter test weights so it seems the consistency of the G35 sedan at least is pretty close from one test to another. From the pre-production G37s it seems the same as well.

When the car such as G37 comes out, and goes head to head with the world's best and even wins in many categories it becomes scrutinized under the microscope because now it's at the top. Most people loose perspective and begin to look for flaws but let's face it guys G37 is one of the best cars in US and probably in the entire world for the money so there is no way that can be disappointing. I bet there were far less people disappointed by Infiniti J30 which didn't offer much of anything because no one ever set high expectations for that car like they do for the G.

Yes for the money it's hands down the best thing since sliced bread. I thought my 04 G35S was a killer deal, but the new G35/G37 as far as options, tech, build quality, drivetrain, powertrain it is simply unbeatable.

I am hoping that all of those tests in each of the magazines were done with the ASW, that way the weight loss of not choosing that option should give the car a little better performance - of course it wont make it a 13.0, but anything helps.

While you have a good point, I just remember too many reviews looking back and fourth across the roll out, launch, mid-term tests and some cars are all over the map in terms of what times and speeds they can hit. .1 is a small varriance to be sure, but I think they were all on AWS.

Did anyone ever find out the weight of the AWS option? Plus, I am sure when the mods come out of the woodwork as they have for the 35s, this car will have more accessories then Paris, ....well maybe almost as many.

I would bet stillen and greddy and others are alredy taking aim at the 335 and will have lots to show us by years end. Just in time for the wife or GF to put a new twin hairdryer on your Holiday list.

At the dragstrip, I've seen many stock G35s running low 14s, and slightly modded ones running upper 13s. So I'm with you, the time improvements aren't sufficient to get me to buy a G37. As a matter of fact the time differances are small enough between the two cars, that IMO a good driver of a stock G35 will get a faster 1/4 time than an average driver of a G37.

I must say after i responded (foolishly), i now see why the g37 is so amazing for its price and overall, compared to a 335i or not, the g37 is an amazing machine from what we can see so far. In the ''Road and Track review"" thread there are plenty of explanations as to why, especially when compared to the bimmer
