G37 Dyno Up on Automobilemag.com 50+ HP

You're right, Garnet.
But then, knowing I'm "faster" by any measure doesn't make me feel good, either. There's always going to be someone faster. So as Garnet said, get what stirs the soul and makes you happiest. If being a tenth of a second faster makes you feel like a champ, then get the quicker car.

287RWHP on the VQ37 isnt totally impressive. i'm still sticking with a 335i with PROcede which will push to around 330RWHP with a $1500 chip.
also, the 335i have roughly 30-40 more HP in 2000-7000RPM then the G37. even the peak power the VQ37 is higher by about 12HP, the mid-range power is much lower then the 335.
stock to stock will be very comparible. but there is no way it can keep up with a PROcede 335i, unless the VQ37 is FI

I don't think Automobile dyno tested the VQ35HR yet.
There was a forum member who had their 2007 G35 sedan w/ the VQ35HR dynotested on a dynapack dynamometer which gave a relatively high 280+ RWHP rating. However, dynapack dynamometers always give higher hp ratings than the dynojet dynamometer that Automobile used to measure the G37's RWHP.
If I were to speculate, I would guess the VQ35HR makes about 260 hp to the rear wheels (similar to what IS350s do) and this would be right in line with the 287 RWHP that the G37 made.
Agree with your points about the 335i and Procede. A stock 335i will likely be quicker and faster in most driving situations than a G37 and a Procede equipped one will walk all over a G37.

PROcede 335 will trounce a g37, true. But at what price? Running turbo's constantly will wear them much faster and you pay a price premium for the TT's. Not only that but the 335 doesn't look as good as the G37.

Peak hp and torque isn't an accurate predictor of which car is faster. You need to compare the area under the power curve. Up to about 6000 RPM, the BMW has significantly more hp and torque under the curve than the G37.
With respect to turbos wearing out, the Procede doesn't significantly increase the max boost pressure. It optimizes air-fuel ratios, timing, etc. which results in more efficient engine running (it actually improves power and mileage). The additional wear on the turbos is negligible as long as the owner of the car properly maintains it. What typically kills turbochargers are things like not using synthetic oil and not changing it at regular intervals, not allowing the turbos to cool down after extended on-boost conditions, etc.

335i vs g37 coupe thats what im between.. they are both 2 very nice cars..
G37
i would choose it bc of interior, exterior looks
335i
i would choose bc exterior look isnt bad
but inside is shot i hate there middle console
but the 335i might just be able to pull on the g37 and it has a turbo which is easy to mod onn..
SO my conclusion is that ima have to wait for a price range on the g37 and if price is where is should be i would choose g37.. if not before i choose either of them i might have to go look at a c32 amg which would rip both or a c55 amg.. soo ima wait till mrsp is realesedd

Maybe it's just me, but I buy a car that stirs my soul, and I couldn't care less if it may or may not be a tad slower than it's competitor.
