one thing im kinda restricted to is mod- ing the car since the g37 looks good with a drop and probably a new front bumper

oh and one more thing, the haters might key ur car in the school lot ever thought about that!?
hahaha man u took the words right outta my mouth. Kids at my school can get crazy sometimes

I hope you the best, but I feel really sorry that G37. Almost everyone, especially at that age, will have an accident that could have been avoided with experience.

If I were you, I'd get a beater until you get enough experience within the first few years.

Goodluck!

.
Seriously, 16-18 year olds don't even know how to drive civics or blazers, let alone high performance cars such as 335i's or G37's...Guess they gotta learn the hard way...

K.. since no one else is saying it, I guess I'll just go ahead and say it now and get it over with.

Please don't take offense by this.. I'm not hating. But, any parent who buys, or lets a 16 year old have a car.. let alone a first car, that goes from 0-60 in under 5.2 second, is a completely oblivious, irresponsible parent. Are your parents trying to compete with your cousins parents for getting him the G35?

Sorry. I'd tell any parent who'd by their kid a 300+HP car that they are fricken nuts in a NY minute. Don't care if the kid in question has a 4.9 GPA, taking All Star AP BioMolecular Physics. I'd want to make sure my kid is alive at the end of the day. But that's just me.

I agree with you 100%. I can afford to by my daughter a 3351 or G35/37 but at 17, she is too young and I want her to earn and respect money. In addition, I don't want her driving a car she can't handle. She has a new car but is has about 130HP. When she gets older, she can look forward to expensive and exotic cars with her own hard earned money, not dads.

I scare you? @ 16, if you are, You have almost driving experience, or maybe 6 months on a learner’s permit. You do not have years of the only real thing that will keep you from killing yourself or others- actual daily driving lessons.

The lessons I speak of can't be learned from a book or a 25 minute drive from instructors even 5 times a week. You have no real concept of time and distance, and learning those lessons in a 300 HP car is a simple inevitable receipe that most teens learn 1 way or another: nearly in an accident, or in an accident. @ higher speeds from fast sports cars, it will not only impact you but the poor car you hit trying to learn how to manage driving, driving fast, and sport car on a street driving. Too much to manage while talking to friends, answering the cell, ipod tune changing, and that morning cup of Joe.

You scare all of us, not just me, read the other posters here, 300 HP + 16 Yrs old = 1 wrecked new car. I don’t wish that upon you, and I hope it does not happen, but odds are against all 16 yr olds, look at the insurance numbers, ever wonder why 16-19 gets the highest rates? It's all about the odds, and odds are you will have an accident in any car you drive at that age.

Do us a favor, go for the 335, wreck the Bimmer instead of the new G.

My 16 year old son drives his great Aunt's 1996 Lincoln Town car and loves it. If he ever smacks that thing into the new G37 when it arrives, guess which car takes the brunt of the damage?

He is a very good driver, but it takes time and experience to become a good, safe and experienced driver. This isn't something that can be rushed and when he's ready (not when I'm ready) he can advance to the next stage of more complex and and higher performance cars.

Yeah, when I was 16 I was driving a '64 Merc bought from my uncle for 50 bucks.

I agree.... Its like giving your son a loaded gun.

I know I'm somewhat hypcrotical, buying an S2000 at age 17... While I did experience haters through HS and probably should have died (I did some stupid things, and you will, too), I at least appreciated it and understood a dollar...

We can't change your parents mind. You came with a question. Best of luck to you, and watch out for the inevitable key marks.

+1. I agree completely on the point about earning, respecting, and knowing the value of a buck! I've seen people get handed everything, and they turn out to be clueless when it comes to money and the value of it.

For one, I wish I had the same issues as the original poster. Red or black? I wish my choices and decisions were comparable to that when I was 17!!!!

And everyone is right that 300+ HP is a lot for a person that may have been driving for just a year. It'll be fun to cruise around at 17 in a Bimmer of G, but just be safe and don't let your stupid friends influence you to drive stupid. Good luck and be safe if you do opt to get one of these cars.

Hey, I reallly appreciate all your perspectives of a teenager and a powerful sports car, and I'm sure Anotha does too. But i bet if we wanted performance we would go with that subaru wrx or the evo mr which are both beautiful cars to me. But I see those cars (G37 & 335i) as combination of performance(which all teens want), elegance, and loads of impressive technology. I don't intend on racing or gunning those cars everytime lol. But what I'm trying to say is that im not a um typical teen that might speed down a straight road. My dad isn't really the type of parent that really knows about cars but he does trust me and I really respect that. Plus it was my decision on those cars, because its also safe and they complement every aspect I want in a car.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Like truong321 said, we do appreciate the each of your perspectives. But as you all know infinti does bring safety, elegance, technology, and has brought a trustworthy performance car to the plate. Just as you all look to purchase one of these cars based on what you have learned about each, we also are doing the same. Once again don't think we do not appreciate or take into consideration your thoughts. We both are doing our research on each to make sure we make the right decision in the long run. I do know it is hard to believe that teens our age are responsible enough to make such a vast decision but please take note that are parents have seen our sense of responsibility and have put their trust in our judgment. Please continue to give us your thoughts, it is much appreciated.
