Every road test of the new sedan is at 13.9 in the 1/4 mile. Almost every 1st gen test of the coupe was mid-14's. I don't look at any one test, but multiple tests to see what, on average, the car can do. On average, the new sedan (from many different sources) runs much faster than the old coupe. In addition, I have driven the new sedan and owned an 04 coupe. If you haven't driven one, please do so. I didn't need a stopwatch to see the difference.

I have driven the 07 a few times now and it feels noticeably faster from a stop. From a roll it feels the exact same as my coupe just a tad bit less responsive.
I can say that I have driven three different '07s. The last one I drove felt much quicker than the first two. It had more miles on it than the others.
That video is interesting. Did the coupe have a passenger as well? Like muscarel said, there are too many possible variables on the street.

motortrend stats and the 07 g35s sedan 6mt got a 14.0 in the 1/4 and an 03 6mt coupe got a 14.2 1/4...so the 07 6mt coupe is probably a little quicker...i
know the 07 sedan is faster but from seeing stats, that video, and having seat time behind an 07 g35 sedan at, 03 6mt coupe, 06 AT coupe...i don't
think it's MUCH faster...but his definition of much faster could be different from mine...hopefully i'll have a chance to race one at the drag strip someday...

My car was a 6mt.
Most magazines were higher than 14.2 for the coupe, while almost all for the sedan are at 13.9. For ME, anything more than 4/10th in the 1.4 mile and 3 mph or so becomes appreciable. That's about a 55 foot lead (3.5 car lengths) at the end of the 1/4 mile. One person on this forum raced their G35x auto (2007) and ran a 13.9, which is impressive. I don't know of anyone that ran a 13.9 stock auto on here with a 1st gen.
If we are talking AWD cars, then I use a different gauge, as alot of "fast" AWD cars run low trap speeds although their times are pretty low.

Another thing I noticed about the new sedans that people have brought to the drag strip. Their 60' times are better than the 1st gen. The x ran a 2.0. Another person in the sedan section just ran a 14.1x with an auto and had a 2.1 60' time. Both pretty good.

I know that the new Sedan has a higher stall TC than the pervious gen Gs. That probably helps with the 60 foot times and is probably why it is noticeably faster from a stop. The new Sedan is certainly more refined with a better ride quality and less road feel so that could be why it didn't "feel" much faster from a roll to me. Without question though it is quicker from every vantage point based on sheer numbers.

Most of the 1st Generation G35's are flat 14 capable. But a few 03 sedans, given the right track and conditions (usually in the east coast) have hit 13.9 stock.
One thing thats underlooked in the G35 is how much weight has actually increased. The 2003 G35 Coupe weighed at an estimated 3415 and the 2003 G35 Sedan at 3336. The 2006 G35 Coupe now weighs at 3515 and the 2006 G35 Sedan now weighs at 3498. Thats a significant jump in weight.
The 2007 Sedan has similar weight figures as the 06 Sedan (about 30 lbs heavier than the 06). But comparing the 07 Sedan to the 03 Sedan, weight has jumped an estimated 200 lbs.
Still, after all these figures, im sure the 07 Sedan is still faster than the much lighter 03 Sedan. There's no doubt about that. How much faster? Maybe not much, but its faster.

1st gens are 14 flat cars? I don't think I've even seen one road test that shows that. Since not too many people have brought their 07's to the drag strip, we need to use the same sources to analyze performance gains. Low-mid 14's is what I remember.
In terms of people's actual experiences - There were a handful of people that stock went 14 flat, but I wouldn't use that as the standard for the car. There were alot more people at high 14's. Not too many peope with the HR sedan have brought their cars to the track and posted their numbers. But the 2 I have seen are already 14.1 and 13.9. When the 1st gens first came out, peopel weren't getting those numbers out of the gate.
Weight has gone up but so has HP. The 1st gen G35's put out 280 HP, and that was not under the new SAE rating. The new HR is at 306. 26+ HP(probably closer to 35) is a good bump especially since it is not just "peak" but all over the rev band. The new 3.7 adds 24 to that number. 50-60 HP is alot more horsepower to move around the 200 extra pounds (my 04 was around 3,450 lbs, the new G37 is 3670).

I agree with your points muscarel.
By 14 flat for the 1st generation, I mean as its potential. Ofcourse most driver's wont see these times without alot of experience and a "ideal" track. But I have seen people do it, which just shows it true potential.

Ok, now that we've killed that topic:
I noticed that the G35 forums used to average "60 people viewing" and the G37 forum was only at 30, but it seems over the last couple of weeks that the G35 forums are starting to attract less people. I almost always see more people viewing the G37 forums, even though there is very little new material to disect, discuss, and argue about.

looks feminine to me, especially in blue. God I hope its just the pictures thats making it look girly. Maybe infiniti is trying to appeal more to women, who knows, but damn there getting close with that curvy front end. One thing for sure the designers screwed up on those taillights. They must have been on something in the design room. Holla
