Back from the NYIAS

I drove to NY from Boston thursday... first thing Friday morning took a taxi out to the javits center from Manhatten then made a beeline for the Infiniti section where the g37 was sitting up on its stage just as you've seen in all the pics. All i can say is WOW... HOLY SH*T.. if you liked pics of the new G at all you will absolutely LOVE THIS CAR IN PERSON. Pictures and videos dont do this car justice at all. I watched all the videos and have seen all the pics prior to the trip.. and I came away speechless. So did the the hundreds of people surrounding that car..The few things I was 'ho-hum' about immediately vanished.

Let me say that this is not a comparison of the g35 to g37. The few words i took away from seeing it in person were classy, sexy and sporty. From the rear (in person) this car is absolutely MEAN looking.. big.. wide.. broad shoulders. Has an exoctic look to it. Once again.. if you try and compare this car to the g35 it doesnt work.. you have to look at it as a new car with g35 roots.. like the 350zx to the 300zx.

Impressions from the people around me were the same.. damn that it sweet. What is that.. it's freaking cool.. That's my next car etc.. etc.. Over and over i heard those remarks... i hung out around the car for a good hour talking to others and taking it all in. It's a shame many of you wont see this car till it hits the showroom. I can't stress enough that videos and pics dont tell the story. You have to see it to appreciate what they've done.

I'll have to see it in person, too, but it's still not photogenic!

Thanks for the information! I bet it does look a ton better in person; but maybe a little too much exageration by stating its like comparing the 300zx to the 350z? .

I'm good with my G35 for atleast another 4 to 5 years though

let me add that if i only ever looked at pictures i'm inclined to once again say the car looks very nice.. but not super exciting.. that is until i remember what i saw in person at the show. We can all pic apart a picture but man when you see the whole picture it works.. very very well!

I will have no trouble getting the same stares, gawks, head-turns as i did in my g35 back in 2003-2005.. it's going to do the same thing for me all over again!!!

sometimes i look at pics of the current model and they dont look as nice as the car does in person...i think that since the concept was so nice people held their expectations so high. with a few mods (ie front bumper and a drop) the new coupe will look close to the concept.

i still think its the nicest looking car in its class and by far the best deal

there are not too many other coupes that come to mind that i like better

that statement is spot on.. i love pics of the g37 from some angles but not others.. what i saw in person had depth and motion.. something i cant exactly articulate in this post.. but none the less it all comes together when you see the car.

Awesome review BostonMerlin!! You know I have loved the G37 from the beginning, but the pictures that people are starting to post from the show are flooring me!! The G37 is absolutely sick and I can't wait to be able to stare at this badboy in my garage!!

fyi...

i saw the altima coupe in person........ we dont have anything to worry about. that car may have the g37 shape but it looks like a 20k car in person. The best i can say (when comparing it to the g37) is that it looks plasticky.. cheap! If it were my first car out of high-school it would be "da bomb" but since many of us in the forum are in a higher tax bracket now you probably wouldnt like it in person.

Interesting report. I'm not overly surprised to hear what you've said. I'm interested to see it in person too.

I can agree, the Altima Coupe looks very good in the rear.. but the headlights ruin the car.. it doesn't look like the G35 at all from the front.

The Altima coupe looks very cheap in person. You cannot compare these two cars. They have a similar profile, but trust me, in person they are very different.
