Question to those who have attended the NYIAS
#2
I was there for the unveiling to Infiniti owners at 9:00AM (after a tasty continental breakfast they served amidst the displays).
First impression is that it looks better in person than in the pictures I've seen.
Though they've changed ceratain body lines, the total visual still resembles the current design in many ways
The interior looks great- tight seams and great center console. Seats have moving bolsters to help fit all sized drivers.
Basicly copied brake set-up from 03/04 brembo backage- 4piston/2piston f/r, but added nice looking infiniti covers.
10 spoke wheels will be a nightmare to clean, and I wonder if they'll scratch in the car wash like mine did in '03.
The car looks great, there will be some new colors (a red brighter than the current laser red), and they made a great presentation. They told us that pricing hasn't been set yet, but expect a similar differential as found in the G sedan when that new one was introduced.
Though I'd love the new seats, dash, stereo with hard drive, and extra HP, I can honestly say I didn't feel compelled to drive directly to my dealer to trade in my '03 CB 6m/t. Maybe it's the color, the brembos, the new summer tires I put on this week, or the fact that I have only 9 monthly payments left to make, but I think I'm going to stick with my current car for a while.

my thoughts from another thread.. seeing in person was night and day. the g is not that photogenic.. in person you can see what the designers were after. It looks fantastic!

Seeing it in person didn't change my opinion on the front bumper. I think when people see the car up-close and in-person, they don't notice the front bumper since it is not too visible from a standing position. That is why it might be perceived that the G37 'looks better in person' than the pictures because the viewing angle in-person does not enable the viewer to see the whole picture.
An example of this optical illusion can be seen from the Infiniti released pictures. In those pictures, the front bumper always seems to be darkened or not visible -- the G37 looks great in such pictures. But once the front bumper is visible, you will notice that it loses its aggressiveness.
The styling on the front bumper definitely took away the aggressiveness of the car, and the back-end doesn't seem to flow as well as previous models.

Honestly no. the car didnt look any better in person at all. I wasnt impressed and i was going to show so excited i even ran straight to the new G as soon as i walked in. the front bumper seems more squared out instead of rounded out with nice lines, the rear bumper only looks good if you look at it standing at a corner angle. the best shot of the car is looking at it straight ahead from a low perspective. Another thing is that the car is SOO high up. or at least thats what it seems like to me. one thing i really liked was the interior. i like how everything is set up and slgihtly improved. I also love the new way to get into the rear seats, its alot faster (i had the lady demonstrate it to me). theres also a button on the inner part of the seats to move them forward so they dont need help to get out, they could do it on their own. All in all i was truly disappointed so im going to start my search for another car.

Note that many glamour pictures of Hollywood stars are taken at specific angles to make the said-person more visually appealing. It is no different than Infiniti-released pictures. It is quite obvious that most of the new pictures have hidden the front bumper to make the coupe more appealing in those shots compared to the leaked-shots.
It is also a fact that when you are standing right in front of the car, you cannot see it from angles where a camera can make a visual defect more obvious.
When the concept was released, the numerous pictures taken by various media outlets did not disappoint. No matter what angle the picture was taken at, no matter if it was in-person or not, everyone I knew was drooling for the concept. If Infiniti put dirt on the concept, it will still look aggressive and stylish.
Sure, some people might find Rosie O'Donnell attractive, but to the rest of the population that don't find Rosie attractive in pictures, she is not going to look any better in real-life. That is why it is absurd to say that people will completely change their opinion upon seeing the car in real-life despite how they hated the pre-release pictures.

you should take your own advice since your so intent on being "right". move on. i'll be here all day to add balance to those who say the dont like it and those who do. if all it takes is one person to set you off because they differ with your opinion then this is not the place for you.
You can argue all you want.. till your blue in the face.. but you only carry an opinion.... some will share that opinion.. others wont.. so be it! geese.

Case in point (and I have said this before).........when I first saw pictures of the 07 Sedan I thought it looked nice, but nothing special. I didn't think it looked overly aggressive at all. I also thought the Sport wheels on the Sedan looked merely mediocre. When I saw the Sedan for the first time in person I was blown away by how different it looked in person. The frontal stance of the Sedan was soooooooo much more aggressive looking to me than the pictures conveyed. Also, I was extremely impressed by how the Sport wheels looked in person as well. To this day, I find pictures of the Sedan do not do the car justice, as they hide the beautiful lines it has. Whether this will be the case with the G37 I am not sure, but I'll let you know when I see it in person for the first time.

Been there, saw it, want it, cant post the pics cause they are all over the limit - they start @ 600kb and run up over 1 MB. (and that was only a 3.2 MPix. camera)
Can we post large pics or video clips anywhere, I took a long slow clip of her turning on the turntable, as well as shots of the new engine they had on separate stand away from the car. It looked better in person, the rounding people are talking about from a top down view gives the appearence of buldging wheel wells, and i went over to the Alt coupe and payed very close attention to the back of that car and they went back to the 37. Not as similar as some would think in my opinion, not at all. Final opinion is up to each one of us, sales will tell if it is a hit or not, but I think I may just have to have one. So did a lot of folks standing and staring.....
