Why wouldn't Infiniti keep the G35c around as an option? Like the M35/M45?
Using the new VQ-HR in an 08G35c coupe, the G37 could be the flagship G so to speak. I'm saying this because personally I'm really dissapointed in the styling of the G37. I could actually see a slightly redesigned G35c with 306 HP, 0-60 in 5.2 sec, 1/4 mile 13.7.. easy.

And what makes you think their won't be a 3.5 liter as an option?
I can bet my coupe that their will be a 3.5 and 3.7 (obviously) in 08.
The G37 is their to compete with the 335i.
Im sure Infiniti hasnt forgotten about the rest [below the 335i] .

They wont do it.
1) If they weren't convinced the G37 was a step forward, they wouldn't make it. They assume nobody will want the older one when the new one is out. Nobody ever offers 2 generations at once. If you mean the new sedan engine in the new coupe body style, that's unlikely also.
Old G35: $35K
New G35c: Maybe $37K. You say it's supposed to compete with 335i, right? Well, price is an issue - the Infiniti has to be cheaper. To make a G35c and G37c at the same time, there will be a price difference - either raise price on G37, giving the edge to the 335i, or lower the G35c price - below the last model, which again is unheard of.
M35/M45 is a much bigger difference.
.2L is nothing compared to 2 cylinders. Not enough people would opt for the G35c over the G37c.
Now, a bigger difference, like a G37/G35c and a G45 is possible, albeit also unlikely (well, G50 rumored).

There is little power difference between the 2 engines... what's the point? And it's not about fuel ecomony, because the G37 coupe actually is slated to get 1 mpg better than the G35 sedan - the 3.7 liter is more fuel efficient than th 3.5L due to the VVEL.
So let's see... offer a smaller engine with less power and worse fuel economy. Yeah... makes complete sense. I'd be first in line.

It's called marketing
Why would they only have a "G37" in a market so competivive?
Just incase some of you have not noticed, the 335i isnt the only vehicle in the 3-series.
Im sure Infiniti has not forgotten about the 328i and 328xi.

Because there is a few grand difference between 328 and 335. Infiniti would need a similar spread for a G35 and G37. That means making the G37 too expensive (edge to 335i), or making the G35 cheaper (less than old one, which is too cheap for them to make anything from).
Kill 2 birds with one stone. One superior car, G37 (well, out of G37 + G35), priced in the middle.
