As much as I'd love for the 08 to be turbo'd I HIGHLY doubt that it will be. Simply because it would greatly cut into the sales of the GTR next year. I will definitely agree with the fact that the 335i is putting down ridiculous stock times, but I think that with a 330-350 hp powerplant and a strong transmission the new G would easily keep up, not even talking about BLOWING AWAY an IS350. I wish that April would come sooner, does anyone know the date of the show, i'm too lazy to look it up..

The current G is already faster than the IS350 from 0-120MPH, so I don't care too much about the IS350.

I got those numbers from the talks that since the sedan is about 306 now, and like it's precedent sedan which had 260, while they gave the coupe 280, the coupe will be about 20hp stronger than the sedan. The speculations go anywhere from 330-350. And common sense. If the current 3.5L makes 306 hp, I'm positive that they'll be able to easily achieve 330 with a .2L increase.
Aside from that there is definitely no comparison between the easiness of modification between the 335i and the G, the factory turbo'd motor needs some software, better air inlets, and probably a front mount and you'll be decimating most highly tuned cars. The only downside is the not yet evident reliability factor, that BMW's aren't as acceptable to mods as japanese cars are. But that's yet to be seen on the new line so I'm not going to make claims I can't support on that.

The 08 Coupe will look so good Infiniti could put a 4-banger in it and it would sell like hotcakes.

So 2 out fo 3 articles say the 3.7 liter is going into the new G. I hope that is true.
The G with or without the 3.7 liter will not blow away the 335 (nor the IS350 for that matter) but it will tighten up the gap to a point where it shouldn't be the deciding factor unless you are modifying the car in which case the 335 wins hands down. The G engine already makes more power up high (above 6k rpm) that the 335. The larger engine will make the power difference at low rpm a bit closer. The current difference from 0-120 is only 1.9 seconds between the 2 cars. If that difference gets below a second then the difference in overall acceleration is negligible. The "feel" of the engine at low rpm will never be comparable between the 2 cars. The BMW has that hands down.
