Nissannews.com Press Release on Sketch

Article

NASHVILLE (Jan. 10, 2007) – Infiniti today released the sketch which previews the look of the all-new 2008 Infiniti G Coupe. Along with a new luxury crossover concept, the next-generation G Coupe will be unveiled at the 2007 New York International Auto Show in April.

This announcement follows a record setting sales trend led by the recent launch of the all-new Infiniti G Sedan, which sold 6,544 units in December, marking its best month ever at a 65.5 percent increase over the prior year. Overall sales of Infiniti vehicles were up 5.9 percent in December, marking the best December ever for the luxury brand.

“Since the Infiniti Coupe Concept was unveiled last year, there’s been a lot of speculation about the new G Coupe and what it will look like,” said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager of Infiniti. “We’re looking forward to the introduction of the G Coupe and the luxury crossover concept at this year’s New York International Auto Show. It’s still a few months away, but trust me, it’s worth the wait.”

The new luxury crossover concept is a preview of a new entry to Infiniti’s product line that will be available at Infiniti retailers by the end of 2007, fulfilling the commitment of three all-new Infiniti vehicles in 13 months beginning with the introduction of the all-new G Sedan last fall.
Again, glad to see that the sedan has been received very well. I'm sure the new coupe and crossover will continue that upward trend.

Notice Infiniti is still not putting a number after the G? Nor have they ever public denied the rumor of a G37. All I know is that there is not going to be a 'next gen 350Z' since it's going to be 370Z. So logically the G Coupe could also pimp the VQ37.

Oh yeah, anyone noticed the 2007 350Z uses the new VQ35HR? So if that works for the Z I don't see why I can't pop in a VQ35HR into the pre-07 G35's. (Then again why would you do that? Just wait for the new G or get a SC)

Yep, I noticed that as well. Are you guys ready for a G37x?

LOL, I hope it does happen Alex! Are you considering a new Coupe or are you planning on keeping your FX?

Planning on trading in the FX shortly. I don't need the space and I'd like to trade it in before 60,000 miles. I've got 49+ on it now. Whether I get a coupe or sedan is still up in the air. I might not even get an Infiniti (highly unlikely). If the coupe has a 3.7L motor and there is an AWD trim, I'm all over it.

I've noticed it myself. Also, the M isn't advertised as the M35 or M45, since there is more than 1 engine size. So it seemed likely to me that advertising it as the G indicated an engine size change at some point.
