Actually from that sketch, those are projectors. I agree, it doesn't blow me away, but what did we expect, a GTR???

I truly wish we could say more, but we are under a gag order by Infiniti. We know how important this car is to the G community and Infiniti as a whole. That's why we are purposely delaying publication of our Spring 2007 issue by over a week to just barely meet the embargo deadline. Nissan Sport will be one of the first--if not the first--magazine with 08 G Coupe coverage.

can you at least tell us why they are so secretive about the car and its features?

are they still trying to get their act together with the engine or what?

it's so annoying that they are so secretive with the car, many people are going to buy other cars as a result of the delayed information release

^^^

If you knew more about the subject, you wouldnt be disappointed with "only" 306 HP.

I hope you know that this 306 HP engine is rated under the new SAE standards. A couple of years ago this engine would have definately been rated at 320+ HP with the old standard.

I think it looks pretty good. I'm still holding final judgement until April. Remember, there were a good many people that disliked the styling of the new G Sedan when they first saw it last April. Now, I'd say that the new G sedan's styling has grown on most. Expect the same for the coupe.

I want to know what's under the hood!!!!

release date

hey guys i dont know if anyone saw this so I just wanted to give a heads up. If you click 2008 G35 Coupe under project cars on their Nissan Sports website, it says that the coupe is to be expected in showrooms June 2007.

At $14.95 for a subscription, we don't have any leadway with pricing (sorry, no codes). We're timing the release of the Spring 2007 issue so the magazine is in the postal system exactly 1 day before the G is unveiled. Subscribers will start seeing the mag as early as the day it is released. Newsstands will start to get it about a week or two later....

And yes, the Coupe is indeed expected in showrooms as early as June 07 (according to our sources). We hope to add it as a project car in the not-to-distant future.

FYI, if you order a subscription by Jan 12, we'll include the current Winter 07 issue, which has a ton of G scoop, from a review of the 07 Sedan to a 205 mph Coupe going for a land speed record to a big brake install.

From www.nissansportmag.com

"The sketch of the new G doesn’t wow me, but then again most sketches don’t wow. While I fell in love with the initial Coupe Concept, I can see why Infiniti backed off on some of the aggressive styling features. First, Infiniti designers clearly felt the need to keep the synergy between the G Sedan and the G coupe, hence the similar front fascias. Second, Infiniti’s target market for the Coupe isn’t the 25-year-old male seeking an aggressive sports car--it’s an older buyer who’s more conservative and more likely to be female. I’ll hold off final judgment on the design until I can see the Coupe in person. Of course the entire Nissan Sport staff can’t wait to lift the hood to see what’s hiding underneath. I’d love to be able to call this the 2008 G38 Coupe."
--Dave Bexfield, Managing Editor (www.NissanSportMag.com)

I hope what he means to say is that the target audience has a higher likelihood of being female, and not that Infiniti is actively targeting females with the 2008 G Coupe.
One thing that definitely cements the current G35 coupe as a driver's sports car is the absolute FACT that there are few females driving them. Look at the G35 Sedan - you see mostly 35+ yr olds driving them, and it's not unusual for the driver to be a female. If you see a coupe, 99.9% of the time it's being driven by a male. OK, I exaggerate the numbers a bit, but I think you all know what I'm saying, and have observed this trend yourself.
Infiniti, don't pvssy out on us. We WANT an aggressive looking sport car.

Not bad at all, but dont know about trading my G in for that..
making the front more rounder gives the aftermarket Mfgs.. more business they can look forward to....

Dave, I understand that the G is targeted to those "older buyer[s] who [are] more conservative" which makes sense obviously. However, do you think Infiniti purposely softened the hard lines of the concept in order to attract the female market? Is it because, much like the FX, (I don't have any stats)the G Coupe currently attracts mostly male buyers? Just curious what your take is.

AthensBlueG and I are thinking along the same lines here...
