2008 Coupe question...
Is the 2008 coupe going to have a glass top? It looks like it from the picture I have attached. Can anyone confirm this? or is it just for the concept car? I really hope that the top of the car is not all glass and will have a regular roof like the 2007 sedan.

Word I get is the roof still up in the air.
I heard they are considering it, but are concerned about making the car too much about the *bling*
They want to keep the performance focus.
That is a concept pic & several things will change for production.
BTW... there is a ('08) coupe concept forum.

I've been browsing the forums here forever and finally decided to register. I never ventured out of the G-spot or the Pictures and have never noticed there was a Future Models section, lol. Maybe the mods could move this post there for me.
I'm looking forward to the 2008 model and really hope they go with the normal hard top. I don't like the glass top, like others I'm sure. They need just an option for a sunroof, this other is just to bling, like you said. I'd hate to see how they would apply the tint to the glass roof, because tinting the windows is a must, lol.

^The glass top was a concept on other cars that were released in America. Some cars had it, but never were a popular seller. Right now the whole speculation is, its going to be optional if it does get released. Me in part wouldnt really want it. Could you imagine driving in 100 degree weather with the sun beating straight down on you ...

It would require 2 entirely different production methods, which would be costly.
A sun roof is much easier.... with the same stucture.
I hope they don't go with the glass.
It would be heavier, & less structurally sound.
Weight would also be added to the worst possible place,..... up high.

^costly yes...would someone actually dish out the dough and pay extra for the difference..you bet.
Like i said though. I wouldnt want one with a glass roof. Its wold just be too much sun coming down on me. You are deff correct about the structural integrity of the roof. I wouldnt want to take a chance and have the car flip and the glass breaks.

I hope they do not include the glass top as a standard. There doesn't need to be any additional weight added and I'm with you guys, if I flip the car by some chance, I do not want glass coming in on me. Other then the glass top, I love the new G coupe and can't wait to see it in person.

I think it would be unlikely to see this on the coupe for the negative reasons you stated Ian.
The flip side is Nissan does have a thing with glass in the roof when you consider the Max and the Armada. Hopefully it won't carry over to the Coupe.

the glass top feature is on mustangs i think, **** is getting pretty popular.. the whole giant window on top... (scion tc, g6)
I think its a possibility because the maxima has something similar to a bigger sun roof (?). Personally I wouldnt want it cuz i live in florida

I for one would love it. Ya sure it might make it a little hot in the summer. Maybe not with current tint technology, i'm sure they can block out most UV and stuff. It would suck in a rollover, but convertables don't offer any more protection. Safty glass doesn't due too much damage to you. I went through a safty glass window before and didn't get cut. It's a pain to get it all out of your hair though. Not to say you can't get cut from it, just not so bad. I like the wow/coolness/bling factor.

I'm willing to bet that the Infiniti/Nissan engineers addressed and resolved the glass roof issue in some way or another. I too would be willing to drop some extra $$$ for the glass roof. Given the triple digit San Antonio heat in summer, there won't be much difference between an all glass roof or a conventional roof anyway.
My only issue is if there's a way that one can control the amount of light coming in(kinda like a retractable screen/shade like the 2002-2004 I35 had)....

I, for one, would love a clear top.
And for all you "it's too heavy" naysayers, who says it has to be glass? A Vette-style lexan (or whatever) section would be great, and may even weight less.
Besides, let's be honest here, it is a pig already, how much extra would it weight anyway, and how would that really effect daily driving? After all, it is meant to be a good looking luxury cruiser, not a sports car.
That being said, I doubt it will happen. But, if they bring out a drop-top, that would be a nice alternative.
