But now that release is Aug, ..... it could be showtime in NYC again.

You could be right about NYC. Detroit might be a rush.

I don't mind it on the hood,
but down the front bumper looks terrible.
In this pic look at how it makes a checkerboard of light & dark
JMO, but I'm glad they're getting rid of it.

And PLEASE at least a 6spd transmission with paddle shifting for us downtown folk.
Yikes. So many details to be decided on still...

NYC in April is more likely.
Make a splash, then in the showroom 4 months later.

The 6MT has revised synchros.... it should be pretty good.

I live downtown, so I don't want another MT. And the current 5spd Tip is insufficient. I really want a DSG/SMG/F1 style tranny in my next car.
Not sure if the 335i has a version of SMG or not. If not, I guess I'll be comparing the two cars in 6MT form, though that doesn't excite my left leg in traffic.

Aparently there's a new AT that's close to production.
Will it make the new coupe.... maybe
A DSG type I think is a little further away.
There's no SMG for the 335, but the AT is amazing.
Blazingly fast shifts in both auot & MM.
Much of the slush box feel has been improved as well.

I would not be at all surprised to see the new 7 speed in the '08 coupe since it has been forecast for the '08 sedan.

Interesting that they speculate no MT in the GTR.
With the new BMW 6AT, there is some speculation on the BMW forums that BMW might drop further development of the DSG.
That new auto box in the 335 is so crisp it's amazing.
Maybe with the new 7sp, Infiniti is going the same way.
One thing the AT doesn't have to deal with is gear sequencing.
A DSG has to sequence though gears to get were it needs to be.
Also, from some other reading I've done;
It sounds like a DSG has to get rather large & heavy to handle higher HP applications.
hmmm could this also be one of the reasons for the delay to Aug?

Large and heavy is never good. Robustness (if that's a word) may be compromised for weight relief if that is the case, impacting future mods.
