And for all you "it's too heavy" naysayers, who says it has to be glass? A Vette-style lexan (or whatever) section would be great, and may even weight less.

Besides, let's be honest here, it is a pig already, how much extra would it weight anyway, and how would that really effect daily driving? After all, it is meant to be a good looking luxury cruiser, not a sports car.

That being said, I doubt it will happen. But, if they bring out a drop-top, that would be a nice alternative.
Pig yes, but we don't need to make it a sow.
I'd like to see this car as light as possible!!!

Plus, it's not just the weight, but where the weight is added. ^-up high-^

I remember when I tried the DSG tranny in the Audi A4, it has a large *optional* glass roof section that extends over the back seat.
It looked but IIRC, the added weight was not a minor thing.
Some of the added weight was due to additional steel structure;
not just from the glass itself.

I do agree the look is
& one benefit would be more headroom vs. traditional sunroof.

From the people I talk to.... it's about 50/50 that it will happen; we'll see

That's not a bad idea with the Lexan or subsitute if weight was kept in check.

We can debate all day I suppose but to me the G coupe is not a luxury cruiser. That distinction would be more for something like the 5 series or M Infiniti sedans. The G coupe a true sports car.... no. I think Infiniti has it right calling it a sport coupe.

Ummm....isn't it supposed to be a "Grand Tourer"(somewhere between a sports car and luxury car)?

Nope, read the sales brochure or the Infiniti web site. Anyhow, everyone is free to call it what ever the heck they want.

It's a pain to get it all out of your hair though. Not to say you can't get cut from it, just not so bad. I like the wow/coolness/bling factor.
Convertibles also have roll bars/roll cages. Yet another thing Nissan would have to worry about instituting were they to offer this as an option. It is not unthinkable though, there are many hardtop/convert cars out there that the factory does nearly the same structural changes to as would be necessary for a hardtop/glasstop G35.

Indeed. Who cares what it is as long as it looks good.

My dealer told me on Saturday the glass roof and the side mirror cameras would not make production.

Yup... basically hearing the same thing.

New Coupe =
- No glass roof
- Regular side view mirrors
- No crease down the front
- interior will be virtually the same as the sedan (as it is pre '07)

What more info did the sales manager have on the Coupe?

No glass roof and no side mirror cameras is certainly not a surprise....although it would of been cool. From the pics, I really liked that interior of the Coupe Concept. I wish that would make it into production, however the Coupe/Sedan interior has always been the same so I guess this is no surprise either.

Don't believe anything you don't hear first hand from someone at Nissan. The stealerships have proven time and time again that they haven't a clue what they're talking about. And this "my friend heard from some guy down at the dealership who heard it from a tech who heard it from the internets LOLZ!" business is generally unreliable and how bad rumors start. Remember....V8 GT-R and 450Z rumors have been around since 04. The "what if" game is fun, but just sit back and wait.

I wish it kept the glass roof. And the interior. Side mirror cameras were a joke with no interior screen for easy viewing. Crease down the middle, couldn't care less.

I hope that it has some variation of the Bose "Studio On Wheels". Not that it would be a deal breaker, but it would make it all the better.

Oh yeah, most dealership don't have a clue about the new coupe so I wouldn't waste time asking them. I would expect more official info will be out in January during the Detroit auto show.

I think that's a given....
Speaker arrangements will differ, but the system will be the same.
It would be nice if they added a full integration iPod port though

I'm hoping for Detroit as well...
But now that release is Aug, ..... it could be showtime in NYC again.
