Some states will cite you for a "rabbit start" others are more aggressive and will cite you for Improper operation of a motor vehicle, or if your tires make even the slightest chirp, congradulations thats now careless, or worse, wreckless driving.
^+1 The same is true here in my Province.

As far as if the 08 coupe does 0-60 in 2 seconds, who cares, how often do you honestly push your car that hard anyway? I'd much rather have a car geared for 60-120 than 0-60, passing people on the highway is alot more "real world" than how fast you can burn something off of a red light.

Who's gonna gun it next to a cop - sheesh, what world you live in? Cruising to 120 on the highway is WAY more likely to land you a ticket than fast starts from a standstill up to the speed limit.

With the flow of traffic of course....
It is done millions of times a day...which what I meant. Just don't rabbit start....or redline a gear in front of a cop.....I would call that intentionally confronting a officer who can stop you for anything if they see fit....

Who the EFF cares how fast it is??? As long as it looks like the concept pics Im cool with that.No matter how great this car is on the specs, these car magazines will never give the G its true respect!!! Why? because it is a nissan at the end of the day! You see how these car magazines just could not give the 07 sedan its props even tho they knew the G beat that Bimmer. This fight is fixed..Someone call Don King!!No matter how fast the coupe will be, we can be confident that it will be the most beautiful thing on the road! Chill out and wait.

G-Thang,
I respect your opinions... but man, are they way off from what I believe. It seems like your speaking your mind without really thinking. No offense ofcourse
First of all, I believe performance is as important as style and elegancy. That's something that makes a G35 a G35; a perfect blend of everything.
Second, a G35 is an Infiniti, not a Nissan. Yeah I see your point that some articles might be biased toward BMW's and that Infiniti is the luxury division of Nissan. But, just look at Lexus as an example; they seem to get alot of respect, although it's just a luxury division of Toyota. Point being, Nissan has nothing to do with this.
But yes, I do agree that it'll be one of the most beautiful things on the road... well atleast under 100k
PS. Have you seen my sig

If infiniti can hit that sweet spot again (performance + price tag) wise then it ll be smooth sailing. That being said, i doubt infiniti can make the next gen coupe faster than 335i, mayb in the 5.0 range at LEAST, because I think infiniti is more geared towards the looks of the car.

^ The GTR is gonna be a v6 and its supposed to pull at least 450hp. Thats w/ a twin turbo of course. On that subject, does any one know if the GTR is going to be in the class of the new m3, or of the z06/ porsche class?
Back to the G. I just hope the looks stay pretty close to the concept. And I really hope it beats the 335i, 330hp would be ideal. I really hope its more than 306hp.

I think the reason infiniti haven't release any SOLID information about the engine about the concept coupe is because they are still figuring out how fast it has to be to be a competition to the 335i

I think Infiniti will release the 08 coupe in that 320hp range..0-60 will be in the low 5's, slightly lighter than the 335 bmw but still a bit slower. Infiniti will work out all the "first model" bugs and kinks and in 09 up the power or "refine the engine" again to 340-350 to be over the bmw 335 but under the newly coming 400hp v8 m3.
Either way my 03 will be traded in for this new 08 model...

Im guessing somewhere in the 320-330 Range, since its supposed to be released with a 3.7L this time around. Im guesstimating a 0-60 of 4.9, with the 6MT that is.

I hope like the rest of you that the new G Coupe will put out more power (320-330) and keep the same weight or less, but realistically, from a marketing standpoint, does Infiniti have to do this? Currently, they are tops (tied) in class in HP at 306. Yes, the BMW 335 is faster - we all know that, but Infiniti will run ads saying they are the horsepower kings in their class. And besides the 1st gen G, where the coupe put out a questionable 20 more HP than the sedan, the second engine put out 298 HP in both the coupe and sedan. Maybe Infiniti is going the way of BMW and having the same engine/HP in the coupe and sedan. The 306 HP engine is brand new so will they really put a differnt engine in the G35 Coupe?
Assuming that BMW is their greatest competitor: In terms of straight acceleration, Car and Driver has the 2007 Sedan 6MT going to 120 MPH in 19.0 seconds versus their test of the 335 at 17.1 seconds. 1.9 second difference to 120 MPH is not that HUGE of a difference. What the G doesn't have is all that torque down low like the BMW. The same test shows "Top Gear Acceleration" from 30-50 of 8.7 seconds for the G35 and 5.6 seconds for the BMW. That is where the difference lies. But the G will not have that anyway short of significantly increasing engine displacement or going with a similar setup to BMW.
So, what I'm saying is: What are the chances of Infiniti putting the same engine and output in the new coupe? I really hope they have more up their sleeve than just new sheetmetal and interior - although I would probably still buy it if that was the setup.
