Speculation on 0-60 times before knowing more about the car including, power, weight, gear ratios etc is silly.

60 to 120 - much more indicative of power
True,

But I think people wanna see how much low end power this car will have as much as high end power.

Either way, it's still way too early to tell.

0-60 doesnt show low end power. It shows the car's overall power:weight ratio.
Whereas 60-120 is more indicative of overall power, as weight means less when you arent fighting that inertia.

That may be true, but the launch/grip will skew such metrics.

My favorite example is the STi. Launches like a mother. But look at the trap speeds, and how long it takes it to get to 120 from 100.

What Nissan needs to do is to try as hard as possible to keep the car in the 3400Lb range, create a shorter final drive (3.7) matched with a longer 6th gear for MPG savings, and an even higher redline (7800). Slap on some really sticky tires from the factory and you got yourself a low 13-sec quarter car that looks like sex on wheels.

It'll be quick, but it will still be sub 335i and M3 levels.

I agree. They have the power (330 is fine), they have the TQ (assume itll be close to 300), and the looks. Isn't the new redline higher as well in the 07 Sedan? But you're right, they should give it an aggressive final gear with a relaxed 6th. 3400lb range is KEY but sadly I'm guessing 3650+.

I was going to get an 06 G35, but got an FX instead for some weird reason. But it will be gone this coming summer. How much does the current G weight? I'd add 150 lbs at least to that. Sadly cars aren't getting lighter.

Any other tuners already thinking about what they will do to their next G??

I am..

First, I want it black or white, with either brown or black leather respectively.
JLine 10RL2 in Gloss Black (polished lip), either 19'' or 20'', depends whichever is stock. With Toyo T1R.
Coilovers (HKS, KW, Cusco, or whoever else gets some good ones on the market first).
Intake (K&N, HKS, etc - something good and reliable and simple, quick to hit market).
Exhaust - most likely Nismo. If I had a current G it'd be HKS, but I think I want a perfect fit inside that bumper of the next Gen. And Nismo seems to come out quickly.
20% tint, 6000K HID, shaved trunk badges, and JDM reflectors assuming we get some amber in production.

What do you guys anticipate?

Even if the new G Coupe doesn't quite measure up to the 3-series coupe and M3, what it will offer for the dollar will be a major factor. The 07 does 0-60 in 5.2 sec so it's possible that the G Coupe may even do 0-60 in 5.0 or even 4.9, which should be plenty fast for most drivers. And I remember reading somewhere that there's a seven-speed SMG in the works(very likely the same seven-speed that will be offered in the GTR) although there's no way to tell if the 08 Coupe will have it(it might be released in other Infinitis then trickle down the line).

If it has the 7 speed SMG, sign me up. However, I find that dubious. That is what kept me from getting the G last time around. I had an S2000, but now that I live downtown I don't want another manual - I want a good SMG/DSG/F1/etc.

they are going to have to pull off one hell of a show to outpower the 335i coupe, and btw if ur measuring 100-120 ur going to need a nice tune to keep up with a BMW, coming from a G35 driver...

All little bit of side tracking, but...

I think what made the last gen g35 so successful was because infiniti positioned the car in the price margin and the performance in an awkward position for its competitors. The G35 (performance wise) was set right between 330ci and the M3, thus making the G so successful. If infiniti can hit that sweet spot again (performance + price tag) wise then it ll be smooth sailing. That being said, i doubt infiniti can make the next gen coupe faster than 335i, mayb in the 5.0 range at LEAST, because I think infiniti is more geared towards the looks of the car.

Does it matter... There will always be a car better/faster than ours...

But no car will be able to match the level of performance for the price that Infiniti has set on the new coupe(which should be around the same price as the current coupe). And THAT will be the difference.
