RBull was correct. The curb weight for the 06 Coupe with 6MT is 3488lbs, the curb weight for the 335i 6MT is 3571. Not quite 100 lbs difference, but pretty close.

I am looking to get an '08 Coupe to go along with my 03.5 Sedan. Weight is certainly a concern as for every car platform, it gradually increases each year until there is a complete redesign.
I was reading that when a manufacturer uses one platform for multiple vehicles, in the case of Infiniti, the G35 Coupe, Sedan and FX, weight will always be an issue. The FX as an SUV will be heavier and stronger. Unfortunately, the Coupe and Sedan suffer as a result.
Hopefully, the new front monocoque platform for the Coupe will address the porkiness issue. Really though, if you compare the G to the new Mustang, the G looks like a svelte bantamweight. Maybe not getting the Skyline GT-R will encourage Infiniti to build more "beast" into the G Coupe.

Yes, there will be typical first-year teething issues.
But there are other reasons why waiting isn't so bad. If things had gone differently, I'd have had an '03 and would have been dying for an '05 6MT. I'm glad things worked out the way they did and I'm in an '05 6MT. I waited out of necessity, but it still worked out.
I'm considering trading for the new coupe, and I'd love to have a first-year so I didn't have to wait, but circumstance may not make that the best approach. And then experience is whispering to me to enjoy the '05 6MT for a while and catch the new style on it's 3rd year, when they add more power or otherwise refine the model. Just depends on how much I like the new coupe... ...but one of it's biggest attractions will be the paddle-shift 5AT, which is likely to have issues the first year.

there's a very good chance it may have an updated transmission 7-speed SMG transmission as well.

The 5 speed POS Auto it has now is what's holding me back. They need at LEAST 6 gears and a smooth paddle shifting unit. Now Im considering only the 6MT, but since I have moved downtown I'd like an F1 style tranny.

Get the '08.................
If it was a Ford or Chevy then that would be a
concern. I can guarantee that with Nissan cars they
