I have a 2009 g37s and love it so much I want a vert. Went to look at one and the top wouldn’t go down (flipper issue) THANKS for this forum so I knew what the deal was and walked! 😂
did it get better in later years or is that always a known issue?

I have a 2014 and had the flipper failure on both sides. I suspect that the issue cuts across all years. The vert ceased production in 2016 I think?

Unfortunatly, broken flaps gears affect all years from 2009 to 2015. They changed gear design in 2012 but...still cheap plastic gears that broke in half after couple years.

cheap and permanent solution is to replace them with solid steel ones...that I sell since the last 5 years now...they will last forever!!?

dealer would ask over 2k to replace linkage...for one side only! So, around 5k to replace both...with the same plastic ****!!!

Hi Dave,

I think we already communicate by email but, to answer you question: all models from 2009 to 2015 have those cheap plastic flaps gears...they changed the gear design in 2012 but...instead of the plastic outter part stripping from the inner metal small gear, on newer models the outter plastic gear split in half...so ,when the flipper arm reach that broken spot, it stop deploying and you top wkll stop his operation.
