G37 Convertible deteriorated hydraulic pump rubber Bumper in trunk

I have a 2010 G 37 Infinity convertible (32,000 miles)
FYI:
I've had several issues with deteriorating rubber bumpers etc. One was the Hydraulic Pump Rubber Bumpers in the trunk that cushion the glass when the roof is retracted. The infinity part was $92.00 each from Ebay .

Solved the problem with the following: Works perfectly

The deteriorated rubber bumper in trunk

These are the infinity replacement parts. $92.00 each!

Found this solution. It has worked perfectly so far and only $2.00 each.

So far so good......

I purchased a 2013 vert last year and noticed deep scratches on the roof panel on both the left and right side, equal distance apart. I have been trying to find the cause, I knew by the location of the scatches it was related to putting the top down. I suspected that there was some sort of rubber piece that may have disintegrated. I think this thread has identified my problem. I will try Mr. Prachyl's solution as well as udannefit's solution for the rubber bumpers. Thanks for the tips, this forum has been a great source of information for me.

How did you remove the existing bumpers? From the photos you posted, it appears there is a bolt you put through the door/ramp stops?

Wow, thanks for that info. I purchased a couple of rubber stoppers at Home Depot and was thinking of drilling holes through them. This is way easier.

As far as removal of the old bumpers, they just pull off. There is no nut/bolt to remove You may have to do a little twisting motion while pulling up the old one.

How did you attach the new bumpers? The photo appears to show a bolt holding them in place. The rubber door stop the OP suggests has a hole through the center of it and it looks as if he ran a bolt through that.

After pulling off the old bumpers, there is a bolt and nut that will need to be removed in order to install the new bumpers. I used a flat washer on both sides of the hole that the bolt goes through in the new bumper piece to keep the it in place and prevent any damage. Then it's just a matter of screwing the new bumper assembly into place. Took me a total of 15 minutes to do it, and I took my time.

I know this is an old thread, but the fix suggested here is for the rubber bumpers located in the trunk. They are where the rear windows sits when the cover is retracted.

I have a 2011 G37 and I also have the two roof dents as described in this thread. I've been able to locate where they came from, but haven't looked in how to prevent them from happening again if I get the roof panel fixed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
